Just called T-Mobile. "Hey, why does everyone else have tracking info, but there isn't hide nor hair of my phone in the system?" Well, since I let my husband (who for some reason has always thought we live during the Great Depression and has never thought spending money is a good thing) talk me into waiting to order the phone and didn't order until Oct 5, I won't be getting my phone until November 11.

So, I'm thinking I ought to just get up at 5am on Wednesday, get over to the T-Mobile store and just get a phone. Why should I have to wait three extra weeks for ordering two days later than some of you?

well in my personal opinion..... if tmo ran so low on phones that they had to push all orders after oct 3 to a delivery of nov 11 so then how would they have enough supply for retail stores on the 22nd? If they had enough phones to fulfill all the preorders, then we would ALL get our phone on the 20-22nd no matter when you pre-ordered. If they pushed back the delivery date then obviously they ran out of phones and won't have another shitload of G1s until a couple weeks before Nov 11th. So how could they possibly have phones to put in stores on the 22nd if they didn't even have enough phones for the pre-orders that will be delivered by the 22nd. I think if you walk into a retail store on the 22nd, all you will be able to do is backorder a G1 which will arrive.... nov 11 at the earliest..

Yea it doesnt make sense to preorder the G1 and have it come to you on Nov 11th, when you can just pick it up at the store on the 22nd.

You have a point, because if they were out of g1's the stores wouldnt be getting a shipment, so therfore I would pick mines up the 22nd, and when the g1 comes on Nov 11th I would refuse the package so therfore it gets sent back.
But alot of T-Mobile stores wont have the G1, The G1 will only be offered in stores that are in 3G areas, so for some people if they dont wanna ride miles and miles they'll just have to wait.

T-Mo wont allow you to cancel the order once its been placed, I dunno why!

The reason some pre-orders are being delayed in spite of Oct. 22nd availability, is because T-mobile wants to give potential customers of other networks a chance to get on the release wave, and sign up for a two-year. If all the pre-orders [which are t-mobile only] got their phones, it would not give users of Sprint, or ATT Wireless an oppertunity to commit.

To me it's not fair....... Orders should be in the order which it was placed. I canceled my order, I was told to refuse it whenever it arrives. I'm getting the Blackberry Flip 8220 instead, besides I'm also getting the hotspot@home service. I will be able to make calls over WiFi with the included router as well. Maybe I'll get the G1 later after I get some real time reviews from you guys :D

Okay, here's how it works. They announced a 22nd launch date. To do that, they have to have stock available on the 22nd. They have to, otherwise there is no launch. That stock is seperate from any pre-order stock. Again, they have to have stuff for the stores on the 22nd or they look like big goons to everyone who's not a T-Mobile customer.

This is unprecedented. T-Mo has never done preorders, has never had a major launch like this on their network. They had no idea the demand would be this high. I had no idea, either. I just thought I was a geek, and that most people wouldn't know or care about the G1. But they sold out of the pre-order allotment and had to reorder. This is different than the store stock for the 22nd.

So the reason your phone is delayed is because they ran out of pre-order stock. If they started pulling phones from the stores to send in pre-orders, that would be a huge paperwork nightmare for them, and would most definitely piss off their stores (many of whom are independently owned). The allotment for stores and the allotment for pre-orders are seperate. Since they ran out of pre-order G1s, they have to delay yours until they get that new shipment in and processed.

It sucks, I know, but that's pretty much what happened. Pre-order means getting the pre-order price. Which will change significantly after launch.

Well T-Mobile told me tonight that there was "a problem with the order form" and that's why people who ordered their phone after me have it today while mine is still listed as back-ordered without any tracking info.

Oh so there was a problem on T-Mobile's end? Ok TMo, whacha gonna do for me, cuz right now porting my number over to ATT and getting and iPhone is looking better and better!

As much as I feel for you OMGOMGOMG (and I do), you've still got to keep in mind that, hey, these phones STILL aren't supposed to arrive as "late" as tomorrow. I understand that some are getting their's early - but, I say be mad at T-Mobile if they don't deliver it on ship date.

If your phone doesnt show up tommorrow, thats gonna really suck. You preordered so its not ur fault. I ordered mines Sep 27th and mines is arriving today.

About porting over to at&t, I wouldnt. I work for them, so get ready to be bored, the Iphone isnt that great, its ok, but seeing a black screen with icons 24/7 gets super boring. You cant even change the background mostly.

Mines is still listen as back order also on T-Mobiles IVR and when I speak to a rep, they all say my phone is on backorder, but its shipped though.

I dont blame you though, I probably would cancel T-Mo too if they were to let me down like that.

i agree with you 100% i missed the first pre-order, and then i was going to order for the second shipment, but i stopped when i found out that you wont get it till something like nov 11, which doesn't make any sense when it will be out tomorrow, the only advice i can offer is go to the store tomorrow see if you can buy it, if you can go for it and ship the other phone back, if its sold out, then hey you still guarantee your self one:D

I wouldn't be so angry if I had shipping info, but it's still not in UPS's system so I doubt I'll be getting it tomorrow.

Id say judging by the fact that the corp. store I got mine at they started with 60 and sold half of those in the first 2 hours they were open and they didnt expect any till Nov 10th, so once there not in the stores peeps will preorder outta the fear that they wont be able to get one any other way...

    just my .2

Well I did an end run around T-Mobile and got mine at the store. If they're sold out when my pre-order comes, so much the better. I'll sell it on ebay and pay for this one!
