    Hi,

I have developed a widget displaying the medal table for the Vancouver 2010 winter olympics. But how should countries be ranked? Should they be ranked on total number of medals, like on the official olympics page: Olympic Medals: Gold, Silver, Bronze : Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Or should they be ranked on value, gold first, then silver, then bronze, like on the BBC page: BBC SPORT | Olympics | Vancouver 2010

Have a look at the widget, search for "olympics" on market

Have your say in the poll! :)

I believe the standard for medal count is total number and not Gold, silver then bronze. I would go with what the standard is and that's usually just the total number.

I decided to go with the IOC convention: Olympic medal table - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. (Thanks Damien Chenot for the link). The convention sais gold first, then silver, then bronze. However, I will let the user chose in a coming update, because however I do it, people get upset. Americans seem to prefer ranking on total numbers, while others seem to prefer gold first.
