If you haven't seen this app yet I highly recommend it, this kind of app is why I got a 1ghz phone and android. Just search quick desk on the market its the top app on appaware right now and for good reason, this is definitely one off those apps u get to show off to friends and it really makes you feel like you are using true multitasking, just put your power bar widget and music widget up there and you can control your music n settings anytime without jumping out of thee program.

Just fyi though double tap home won't work cuz its used in sense already so we have to hold search button unless you use launcher pro.

    just downloaded..

didnt really see what it did..

would long press search and use it, but it didnt do anything.. dont know how to load up any widgets or apps or whatever its suppose to do.

and it takes away double tap home for leap even if you set default htc sense for home... not a fan of that

Really I couldn't even make it take away leap if I wanted to weird, just hold down in the black space to add something just like in your home screen

When I clicked on home screen it told me which option, HTC Sense or QuickDesk. I chose use HTC Sense as default and it took away Leap.

I already uninstalled. Its not that hard to hit home from any app or broswer and do waht i need to do. then long press home to bring up recent apps and go back to what i was doing.

I dont see this app making it easier. But its first perfect 5 star app i have seen

Couldnt make it do that when i set either of them as default, And it makes it quicker for me because I had my power bar 2 screens to the right and my music control 2 to the left so I had to hit home slide twice then click it then hold home for a few seconds a then go back to my app.

With this new app i just hold search click it and hit back.

it looks really cool too, being able to see your program laod in the backround as your doing it

Set it to a long press on the search key, added my music player and audio book controls. Not sure what I think of it so far, but it's definitely got enormous potential.

Very cool app. No more backing out of browser or other apps. So far I have settings, calculator, people, maps, music player, audio manager, astro, and handcent linked and the possibilities seem endless.

    Thanks for the heads up.

the concept is cool, but it's not the first in the market
i prefer power strip to this one. it looks like a dock and loads more widgets. it gives fast access to all apps as well which is lacking in quickdesk

absolutely yes, that's why i said the quickdesk isn't the first one with that concept.
you can check it out introducing Power Strip

Thanks audio manager and calculator where some good ideas, i'm going to add that myself.

This one seems pretty cool also, I might end up picking it up in the future, Only downside is it cost money (.99$) and i dont really like the widget dock idea (powerstrip?) it adds an extra click and delay before i get to what I want and that kinda defeats the purpose. Not really digging how it replaces your home app making sense secondary to itself also.

ok so, i press the home key and it brings up a menu with market internet and messages (and i have a bunch of other stuff open) so, how do i get home from lets just say email with out pressing back 3-4 times and if there is an easy way to get back how do i add more apps to the menu? im not giving up on it but its a waste of time so far

You have to go to preferences and set sense as your default home and to add stuff just long press the black just like on your normal home screens.

Edit: set quick desk as your default launcher in android settings to keep leap function from sense. And you can use long press search instead

So what are you guys really using this as?

Give me some real world examples.. Like browsing internet, streaming music and you use this app to change songs without leaving internet browser?

Is this what this app is for? Can someone give me some other real examples where they actually use this?

Debating if I want to try it out again but I cant think of any time I would actually need to use it..

    Thanks in advance

I only downloaded it yesterday, but here's what I envision:

You have a few tabs open in your browser then get home and want to switch from 3G to WiFi. With this app, you can just double click home, toggle WiFi, start a song, turn down your ringer and see if you have any new emails. Press the Back button and you're right where you started.

Without an app like this, you would have to press home, go to where your WiFi toggle button is, do that, go to wherever your music player is, play with that, go to Volumer/Audio Manger to set your volumes, go to your mail icons, check them, then finally relaunch your browser.

It could also be helpful while playing a game, responding to emails and anything else you ever use your phone for.

This is basically a customizable dashboard that can be quickly called up and dismissed with minimal disruption to whatever you were doing.

I use it for media controls. Mid-browsing or whatever it's super convenient to be able to control your music or audiobooks.

This is pretty sweet! Thanks to the OP for letting us know.

I have found one small glitch albeit no biggie. When using LP and while on a phone call, if you've set QD to open upon a long press of the search key (which I think is best) it will not pull up QD immediately, but rather go into a default search where you can then long press search and QD will open. Not a big deal at all though.

It's nice when navigating or browsing to long press search key and have anything at your fingertips then back out of it instantly....cuts several steps out.

I like the app anything to shorten the amount of steps it takes to do things/multitask is a good thing... here's to even more gadget productivity cheers dev!

Seems cool, music / calculator are the only things I can think of, but that's still handy.
