    Is there a means to turn on screen buttons off when watching a movie?

    This question has been asked before and the answer was yes, with some ROMs. Unfortunately, I don't recall which, but a quick search of past threads ought to find you an answer.

    I believe CyanogenMod has it and Paranoid Android for sure has it but you'll need to root either way.

    Interesting. I'm sure I see the advantage to on screen buttons in that case. They eat screen real estate.

    Strange, on mine they disappear after a few seconds of watching the movie. Play Movies - out of the box ROM.

    they disappear on youtube videos too

    Full screen mode on CyanogenMod or Paranoid. Press power button.

    Mine did it straight out of the box. I can't find any settings which may change this either.

    Yep, mine disappear when watching a movie, at least with the stock player and when in youtube. It's done this ever since the first ICS on the GNex.
