    z4Root 1.3.0 apk
    z4root.1.3.0.apk

Place the file in your sdcardrecommended the root(top folder of sd card)

Install with your existing package installer, let it run it's thing and reboot and verify you have the superuser Icon in your app drawer.

If you like 2.1 then go ahead and flash it now, but if you're holding out for 2.2 it's always hit or miss wether the 2.2 OTA will be pushed to your phone so just wait the extra day, we should all have or be able to get the official 2.2 OTA or SDK.

    Please leave thanks :)

Not a dev, but I keep myself educated on everything that's going on so I may keep everyone informed to my fullest ability.

Ahh well that's a good thing. Especially in the Transform area. Only introductory level android with a front facing camera. Good deal for the money though. So we have a lot of newbies I'd guess.

OK, so I got the OTA 2.2 and want to root so I can use the free wifi tether. Do I use the z4Root 1.3.0 apk or do I need to wait till some mods are made with the stock 2.2?

Just click the link and download the file, follow the directions then go into the app market and download "wireless tether" start the app, click start, then when superuser pops up click allow, but then you have to turn it off and click allow again before it will work. You dont need a recovery or anything just the z4root and your fine. Let me know how it works out.

so if i update to 2.2 i can use this same app to root?
and it will give me the free wifi hotspot

    NickDroid86 Well-Known Member

Yes you can still root with it, and it doesnt come with wireless tether, you have to download "wireless tether" from the app market. enable it, disable it, and then re enable it again (for the first time only to allow superuser permission)

That one since your installing it like an app and not flashing it, i believe it doesn't matter but I recommend the root of your sd card, then install it right on your phone it's self explaining once you get into it.

if you go into the app market you can download "Astro file manager" for free and open it and find z4 and click on it and install from there.

Once it's installed, go into you app menu and click on z4 and root that biznatch

What i did was go on my phone and download it off mediafile and it worked fine.
what i choose was temporarily root. can i unroot it tho
  20. NickDroid86

    NickDroid86 Well-Known Member

temporary root is no good, it will unroot you every time your phone restarts. if you do permanent root, you can still click unroot whenever you want and you will go back to stock. Make sure to leave me a thanks if I helped.

Has anyone tried this after the froyo 2.2 update?
  25. NickDroid86

    NickDroid86 Well-Known Member

I actually just tried it, mine seems to go nowhere when aquiring root shell. I need to give it some more figuring, if not root 2.1 and then flash the 2.2 rom somehow combining z4root with the only working recovery we have so far.
