I've been using this phone for a little over a month now. I came from a 64GB iTouch and the only problem I have with this phone is connecting it to the car. I am constantly in different cars going to different places and I like to listen to music I'm working on. I did this with the iTouch by buying a $90 (at the time) FM Transmitter that got VERY good quality reception without any problems (a lot of you are probably skeptical, but it really got close to perfect sound). I need to find something like this for my Incredible. I have found the universal iTrip, but all the iTrips are garbage, and I found a Gomadic FM transmitter, but I've never herd of this company before. What are some of you doing to connect your phone to the car.

try airplane mode. you have a cellular radio that will interfere w/ your fm transmitter. your itouch doesn't have a cell radio in it.

I'm not understanding what you're saying at all. I am looking for a way to play music from my phone through the car stereo, like a FM transmitter...

Press your power button for a few seconds. You get a menu. You can put your phone into airplane mode.

Airplane mode disables the cellular phone radio built in. You are getting interference from the phone so it causes problems with any FM transmitter you use. Some phone have this problem. Apparently your phone does and the way to fix it is to go into airplane mode.

Problem with airplane mode is you can't get calls while you play music. When you finish listening to music, turn off airplane mode.

The phone is made out of cheap plastic with no insulation. That is what is going to happen when you use a FM transmitter.

If you use a FM transmitter,
There is also a website you can go to. I forgot what it was (Sirius Radio) that had a FM preset for your zip-code. It will find the best FM preset that has the least interference.

I use a Motorola T505, and it works very well. Although not on an Android phone yet. It will receive the music (and phone calls) and send via FM to teh radio. It pauses music when a call comes in.

What happened to the FM transmitter you liked? Is it no longer manufactured?

I actually had one that was fairly decent for an FM transmitter -- an inexpensive model that Scosche used to make. It's really hit and miss (99% miss) with them IMO though.

I strongly suggest using a 3.5mm cable or figuring out how to add line-in to your car if you don't have it. The companies that make iPod interfaces for factory stereos tend to make line-in adapters as well.

A lot of you are missing what the guy is asking. He isn't saying he's getting interference, but that he wants an FM transmitter that will work for his phone. The iPod one he had probably used the proprietary connector that apple uses.

@OP - You should try using the auxiliary input if your deck has one. If there isn't one on the front there might be one on the back. I don't have any suggestions for an FM transmitter, but many people say the T505 works well, (and you'll get bluetooth calling)

I've herd about the T505, but what I liked about the FM transmitter for the iTouch was it would charge the phone and send the FM signal with one wire. The T505 is wireless, but you need to worry about charging that, AND the phone. Why can't they make a simple solution for these phones. This is one area that the Android phones are SERIOUSLY lacking. Give me a 12v aux port for a car and FM transmitter with ONE wire. I don't want wires all over the place lol

I've seen a few charger/fm transmitters at walmart, etc.

Might just have to buy one and test it. You can always return it.

Incredible doesn't have a headphone jack??? None of the pics I can find show the top of the device. Pretty bad design if that's the case.

But I did find a picture of an HTC 3 way splitter that runs out of the USB port and has headphone out. So you can use that. Should be able to find it on HTC's website.

The Droid Incredible does indeed have a headphone port. It is at the top of the device and works quite well.
