Seems that whenever I open the browser it goes to my last page visited, rather than the default home page (Google.) How can I make it go to Google whenever I open the browser from home?

Replace your browser shortcut on your home screen with a Google bookmark, or use a task manager to close the browser instead of sending it to the background.

Like above said. On the home screen long-press -- shortcut, select bookmark. It will always open the browser to that page then.
