Downloaded.. I like it but can't see it replacing the default browser. The way it loads pages looks bad and it has no multi-touch. I like how snappy everything is and I also like how dragging your finger over links highlights them to make sure you are clicking the right one.

This should encourage Google to improve the default browser. I love that Opera is graphic rich and looks great. That's what sells me on an application.

Seems like OperaMini, but I can't find where to set my Opera account to get to my OperaLink bookmarks and stuff to sync. It was integrated in OperaMini 4.2 before.

Gah! It's snappy, it loads fast, it looks good but... it doesn't do kinetic scrolling? Really? The lack of pinch-to-zoom I don't mind even a tiny bit, but having to flick repeatedly just to scroll to the bottom of a page gets really old really fast.

Pity too, because otherwise this thing kills the stock browser or even HTC's modded browser in speed and performance stone dead. It just doesn't look like it's been optimized for a touch-based UI.

I prefer to use the stock browser, but the only good thing about opera is that now I can finally upload pictures to websites...no longer get the "uploads disabled" message

Keep in mine that this is only a Beta release, (Opera traditionally releases 2-3 betas before the final version)

One thing that I do like (and I wish Google would do this with Chrome and the built in Android browser) is that if you use Opera desktop you can sync all of your settings / bookmarks to Opera Mini and vis versa.

Getting used to? No time here! This thing is fast! I love it. I'm saying good bye to the stock browser.

Just need to change that icon. :p

Is this browser for both 1.5 and 2.1? I haven't updated yet and just wanted to check.

    Should work with all versions.

Opera is known to be blazing fast on computers, and it's no different here. Makes a world of a difference.

I'm loving it too. Seems great so far.

I have not figured out how to set it as the default yet, though. I read somewhere that I need to uncheck an option on Browser in Manage Applications, but I don't see Browser in there.

I never thought about that, but I know if I click on a link from Twitter, Facebook, or some other app with a link in it, it'll ask.

Otherwise, try going to Applications, scroll down to the default Browser, and select "Clear Defaults" on it.

I'm not sure if that will work, but it works when trying to switch the default from Sense to Home. I'm sure you can do the same for Browser.

difficult to select text but other than that its great!
its identical to the windows version...i work with windows phones at work and loaded this opera yesterday and its exactly the same.
no multitouch...but the double tap im use to from windows mobile is there.
    arguably better than multitouch...
im not gonna make it my default yet but its very good so far.

That's the thing...it does not show anymore because I tried LastPass, and set Browser to default because it kept prompting. However, I don't see the default Browser in the Manage Applications list.

Guys, note the difference between Opera Mobile and Mini. This is Mini and has been on the Market for some time. Mobile is still in development for Android and is available on only two operating systems, Symbian (Nokia) and WinMo.

Check out Opera's site for more info.

Running 2.1? It's called Internet. Don't worry. It doesn't work.

Why would it need to be made the default, though? Just delete the icon for Browser and put in Opera.

I LOVE the fact when you use the trackball on a page it turns into a mouse cursor.

This browser has won me over. :D

Could one of you who have this new Opera answer a question for me?

I used to run Opera on my old Samsung Instinct, and I loved it and it was my default browser then. The only thing that irked me a little bit was the extra step needed to input text into a form or whatever on a website; clicking the text field would bring up the Opera text input screen which had a little "T" on it that once clicked would take you to the device's text input program.

Once the text was inputted there you'd be taken back to that Opera screen where you'd have to click "ok."

In other words, instead of going straight from the text field on a website to the text input screen in the device you were stopped at the Opera screen first, going both ways.

Dunno what you're talking about, but clicking on a text box brings up the keyboard and you type right away.

    UPDATE:

I found the OperaLink connection in OperaMini 5 beta which was in the 'settings' (wrench) and mysteriously for me it was called 'Opera Link'. Sometimes I just miss the most obvious things! Oh well...I'm good now...

I may use the OperaMini for mostly mobile sites, and maybe even a Feed reader since it can keep all my feeds as bookmarks.

Sounds like it was just an Instinct thing then.

I'll download and giver 'er a try; always liked Opera's speed and bookmark handling.

Might get rid of it though; I still have no complaints with the stock browser. We'll see.
