I'm sitting here waiting for that beautiful sound of the FedEx truck to drive down my street to deliver me my Incredible! I just wanted some advice from anyone willing to share if you think the initial charge with the phone off is necessary? I don't know how I'm going to scratch that itch of having this thing sitting next to me without being able to play with it! Thoughts?

I've had to replace my incredible already and I did both leaving it off and letting it charge AND just turning it on first and killing the first battery charge and recharging. No difference for me yet.

That is the first thing you should do. If the battery life seems low to you, don't worry. It's taking me 4-5 charging cycles, but now I am getting 24-36 hours consistently.

I turned mine on out of the box to activate it without charging it. It's up to you. Since it's Li-Ion, you don't have to charge it before the initial use, but mine didn't come with a very high charge state. I'd plug it in, turn it on, activate it and start using it and pull it from the charger when it's full.

What's crazy is how long the last 15-20% of the battery will last so don't think when yo uget that low battery message you need to run to a charger it lasts surprisingly long

Must have been pretty well charged from the factory. After ~2 hours I have a green light!
