Root Optimus S Recovery for MetroPCS...

Not open for further replies.
Turned off verify sigs and flashed successfully. Ran Quadrant Advanced at 768Mhz and got a score of 1030. Now just about neck and neck with the Moto Droid X. Amazement achieved! :D

Whoops. Never put the Cpu back to 768 after reboot. So that was a stock 600Mhz score.

768Mhz give me a score of 1235. Over the Moto Droid X and almost to Nexus One 2.2+ speed. *head explodes*

I can't say thank you enough.

Can you tell me if the USB toggle works in recovery?

Here's a quick question. If I'm sure that a certain setting on setcpu is stable can I set this to "Set on Boot"? My phone has been running non-stop at 768Mhz since I installed the OC kernel and I'm sure it's stable at that setting.

I would advise against it as it can cause boot loops if you have an issue with 768mhz.

Official Recovery for Optimus M MS690 release thread. Please add recovery comments, bugs, and questions there as its easier for me to track and update in my own thread.

Added some coments in the Official Recovery for Optimus M MS690 release thread.

If you want to tether you can do a variety of ways...just depends on your level of geeky-ness. This post @ Lifehacker kind of breaks it down on how much configuration you need to do.

How to Tether Your Android Phone

Just depends on if you want to root or not. As well as how much you want to pay for tether.

To load a custom rom or even the modd'ed kernel(so you can overclock) you first need to follow this tutorial:
http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/221382-custom-recovery-optimus-s-thunderc-sprint.html

Once you have basically "installed" the custom recovery you can load the modd'ed kernel to OC:

http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...-optimus-s-recovery-metropcs.html#post2128117

There is another update which enables stagefright(which I am not really clear on, except it has to do with accelerated video):

http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...-optimus-s-recovery-metropcs.html#post2129232

As far as a custom rom there is only one so far, which is really the standard Metro one with some bits taken out and pre-rooted I think:

If you look at the link its the same custom recovery img. I think the one I posted the the original thread and then getitnowmarketing created a properly names one for the Optimus M.

But yea that link you provided is a better since it actually says Optimus M

I think riche has all the correct links on the Optimus M Development thread.

Actually no he doesn't, only the link for the proper custom recovery for the M is on that page.

See this is why we need to be allowed Sticky threads written by people that know exactly what they're talking about.

Bottom line is if you want to get the most out of your phone as things stand now, you must first install getitnowmarketings Custom Recovery for Optimus M.

Then with that in place flash asadullah's ROM Zero 1.1, then flash the OC kernel and then flash the stagefright enabler.

That will give you root without having to type "su" after adb shell command when using adb. Plus less bloatware, plus overclocking ability and faster 3D performance.

ok but no1 has answered my other question.. after flashing the rom will i be required to reprogram my phone so i have service or will all that still be on the phone

Why do you "need" to flash with Zero Rom 1.1?

Why not just root and then install the 2 mods( kernel and stagefright)

You don't need to flash the Zero Rom. It got finalized after I had already done everything else, and I have not had a need to. But, If you have any problems with your phone and haven't done any of this I would recommend using it as it brings you back to a stock state with root enabled and some bloatware removed (a good starting point).

Dont worry if you have lost images from you olympus camera. the situation becomes very heartbreaking when the photos are lost from camera. I faced the similar situation. But I have tried formartting the card for camera recovery and than rstored the lost data from backup.
But if the backup of data not available than use third party application to recover ost data.

wtf

this will enable stagefright and up your davlik heap size to 32 from 24. To disable this tweak simply delete the file it places @ /data/local.prop and reboot. After flashing rerun quadrant and you will be amazed. Zip isnt signed so turn sig verify off in recovery.

Sorry for this stupid question, This is for the Optimus M on stock 2.2.1 right?
