How do you price match with Best Buy? I want to price match with Sam's price but Im not sure what to have/do when I go to Best Buy?...

You need to bring in a print ad showing the advertised price. It can't say "guaranteed lowest price," it has to be an actual number.

I printed an ad from Sams club and took it in. The sales Dood told me he could price match that offer, but I'd loose the gift card.

We'll see what kind of shenanigans I can pull off on Friday! :D

I can't find the damn ad from Sams or find any type of ad from Sprint.

    Have link?

Does it show off contract price?

If the gift card can't be applied towards purchase, then this would ne the way to go. If you can still get the pre order gift card after the price match, even better.

I had pretty much narrowed my options down to Sprint(whom I purchased all my previous phones from since becoming a Sprint customer) and Best Buy. After looking them both over pretty good I think it's a no brainier to stick with Sprint based on the math.

Considering that the one accessory I want/need the most to pair with(literally & figuratively) my LTEvo is a new Bluetooth headset I did the following math:

    Best Buy
    LTEvo: +199.00
    Jawbone Era: +129.00
    Activ. Fee: +36.00
    Sales Tax: +54.25
    Total: 418.25

    50$ gift card -50.00
    OGEVO turn in: -50.00

    Grand Total: 318.25

    LTEvo: +199.00
    Jawbone Era: +103.20 (20% off)
    Activ. Fee: +36.00
    Sales Tax: +42.62
    Total: 380.82

    OGEVO turn in: -70.00

Grand Total: 310.82 (Drops to 274.82 if I can get the Act fee dropped)

Of course my math/reasoning won't work for everyone because not everyone wants the same accessories.

Feel free to point out any flaws in my math. ;)

I'm going with BB. I used them for the first time with the evo 2 years ago.
With all their discounts/promotions I'll be paying roughly $50 for it and cant beat that. $50 evo trade, $50 off bonus, $50 off Phone Freedom promotion. Some chase rewards BB gift cards i have about $40 worth, its actually now dang near free.
Here is hoping they have some nice throw in like 2 years ago with the EVO, bluetooth and case.

At Best Buy, you get the $50 gift card for pre order. There is no down payments required or accepted.

When you trade in your OG EVO, you get $50 off new Sprint phone, and another $50 gift card. See the BB email I posted on page 2.

Take it you didn't sign up for BB Phone Freedom, which you can no longer do?

FYI My line wasn't due to upgrade until JUN 30 2013 - I just called and paid $115 to early upgrade. (Doing this vice buying off-contract at $550 to $700 and hoping for gift cards/credits. This is much easier and cheaper! Glad people had mentioned it on other threads - shew!) - And CONFIRMED - I am NOW eligible for upgrade!! WOOT WOOT!

Also, Sprint is waiving my activation fees. I will need to call after they appear on me bill to get them to reverse it.

    So, for me it's...

$115 Early Upgrade Buy-Up (For 1 line, other 3 are upgrade eligble)
    $200 EVO LTE #1
    $200 EVO LTE #2
    $200 EVO LTE #3
    $200 EVO LTE #4
    - 50.00 BB Pre-Order Gift Card #1 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Pre-Order Gift Card #2 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Pre-Order Gift Card #3 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Pre-Order Gift Card #4 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Discount For Trade-in #1 (Discount applied to purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Discount For Trade-in #2 (Discount applied to purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Discount For Trade-in #3 (Discount applied to purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Discount For Trade-in #4 (Discount applied to purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 BB Gift-Card for Trade-in #1
    - 50.00 BB Gift-Card for Trade-in #2
    - 50.00 BB Gift-Card for Trade-in #3
    - 50.00 BB Gift-Card for Trade-in #4
    - 50.00 Best Buy Phone Freedom #1 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 Best Buy Phone Freedom #2 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 Best Buy Phone Freedom #3 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 50.00 Best Buy Phone Freedom #4 (Can be used towards purchase of phone)
    - 0.00 Acitvation Fees x4 (will show on bill, but will call to have them reversed)
    $115.00 Bottom Line for me

    I'll take that deal.

If I can't use ALL gift cards towards purchase, I will buy and activate one phone at a time and use it's gift card towards the next. My math is, for worse case, pay $50 for first phone, then apply gift cards towards next, then, what's left over - which should be $50 in gift cards, OTTER Cases.

Now - if I can get all the gift cards and get them to price match Sams :D haha worth the effort when I go in I suppose.

Bottom line, and not eligble to all:

GIVEN a $50.00 Phone Freedom Gift Card The Can Be Used Towards Purchase.
GIVEN a $50.00 Pre-Order Gift Card Can Be Used Towards Purchase.
GIVEN a $50.00 discount if trading in EVO 4G for a Sprint Phone.
    GIVEN a $50.00 gift-card for trading in EVO 4G.

At a minimum, $150 in discounts are possible to be applied towards purchase of EVO 4G, leaving possibly a $50 gift card. (If not all being possible to apply towards purchase)

I was told there's no more loyalty credits and the promotion going on this month is waiving the activation fee. They said wait till it hits your bill then call back and that this is a promotion for everyone.

Now I want to know I did do the Phone Freedom and I am supposed to get a 50 dollar card when I pick up the phone to use towards the phone making it 149.00 not 199.99. Now I did put 50 down and have a 50 card right now so I just will owe a 100 more. But I am guessing they won't price match Sam's for 149 and then still give me the 50 dollar phone freedom card and let me use it towards the phone making it even cheaper? I doubt they will but I am good paying 149 and if I save 36 also I am happy.

  13. EasyEEE

    EasyEEE Well-Known Member

See above - I edited my email - again - lol - just trying to help.

I doubt BB will Price match Sams at $149, and then give you the pre-order gift card.

I would think they will still do the Phone Freedom gift card and if you trade in OG EVO, would give you the $50 discount and another $50 gift card.

And yes, they took pre-orders a day before the official pre-order process was released. Most BB's were requiring $50 down.

According to my Phone Freedom emails and Phone Freedom FAQ (sourced above), you should GET a $50 gift card at purchase that can be used towards the purchase. Should be able to apply the $50 pre-order gift card towards purchase as well - see above. Thus leaving $100.. then, minus the $50 gift card they made you buy and the $50 gift card you already have.. thinking taxes, if any, is all you should have to pay.

    Again, if confused, see above.

I pre-ordered, did NOT pay anything down.. nada zip zilch zero.. and I expect to get my phones for free - minus the $115 Early Upgrade Fee I just paid to Sprint.

And yes, I will call back after next bill and have them take off my activation fees.

So trading in your OG EVO you get 50 bucks for phone plus an extra 50 dollar gift card to use towards phone or accessories? I have the 3D but I am selling it with my accessories for 250 so I should come out ok. But I'm good with the phone freedom and paying 149. I didn't have to put 50 down on pre order day but I had the money and did just so going in on Friday and only having to have a 100 bucks more sounded good to me. LOL!

But yes I'm confused and will read above post again. I don't get where you said 50 dollar card they made you buy and one you already have. I have one preorder giftcard and they didn't make me buy it that day said I could just pay on the 18th but I did get it on the 7th and they are giving me another 50 dollar one for phone freedom to use towards phone. So that's a 100 bucks. So if phone is 199.99 I owe a 100 more. I'm not trading in a phone though so that must be it. Phone 199 minus 50 dollar phone freedom 149 and I put down 50 so I will owe a 100 more.

So you can use 50 dollar phone freedom plus 50 for you EVO plus you get another 50 card and it can all be used towards the phone? They told me they had a couple different deals going on and that one was where a 50 dollar gift card had to be used towards accessories. I think that was for preordering online I am not sure. But phone Freedom they said I can use towards phone purchase.

Sorry, I got confused. I thought they made you BUY a gift card, and you had another from before, and counting on the one they were going to GIVE you. :)

Yes.. these are the POSSIBLE deals - and CAN be combined according to the email I posted on page 2 of this thread.

GIVEN a $50.00 Phone Freedom Gift Card The Can Be Used Towards Purchase.
GIVEN a $50.00 Pre-Order Gift Card Can Be Used Towards Purchase.
GIVEN a $50.00 discount if trading in EVO 4G for a Sprint Phone at BB.
GIVEN a $50.00 gift-card for trading in EVO 4G at BB.

The email states, "That's not the only thing that makes this a great deal! With the ongoing offers currently available, cusomers have the opportunity to get up to $150 in gift cards and $50 in savings when they purchase the HTC EVO 4G LTE."

I think most people simply don't believe it. But, I read the email that I posted right from the BB computer. I read a lot of the launch guide. It all seems very legit.. as I have posted the sources on here as well.

Basically, a free phone for me.. well, 4 free phones.

Make a call to Sprint, have them reverse activation fees.

If you need an early upgrade, call Sprint and see what you can do to pay for one.

Mine cost my $115.. so, 4 phones upgraded for $50 cash each.. and as I mentioned, if I can't use all gift cards towards immediate purchase, then I will buy one at a time and move the left over gift card to the next phone.

I am just excited it's all working out for me.. wasn't aware of the buy into early upgrade.. I was preparing to pay $550 off contract and pray I got all the gift cards. I didn't have to.. this was easier and cheaper.

I think the most I can get out of this is the $50 pre order giftcard.

    Rose4uKy Well-Known Member

Sorry I must of cofused you but yes I have one 50 dollar from preorder and the one I will be getting from Phone Freedom. And even if this guy ends up not buying my phone and accessories which he said he would this weekend but even if he didn't I would just let BB have it for 110 and still would end p with a free phone. My upgrade was due June 1st and is suppose to show up on my account 2 weeks early which is the 18th so I got lucky that the phone was coming out on the 18th. My friend now he had to pay 115 which is still a good deal and if there waiving the activation and he sells his phone and accessories he will come out good too. I can't wait till Friday. Like last year I'll get it and have to go straight to work.

My understanding is the sales tax is based on the retail cost of the phone, not the sale price. BB has a higher retail cost for the LTEvo than Sprint does.

That's how it was explained in several other threads.

I don't think that's in every state. I know for sure that's the case in California, but I don't know what other states have the same policy.

And from what I understand, that's also at the discretion of the store.

The Best Buy deals (i.e. OGEVO trade in and discount) state that they may not be used with other offers. I'm expecting that if I go into BB and state that I'd like the $50 credit for purchasing the new EVO + $50 OG trade in + $50 bonus for OG trade in, they will tell me that I cannot use these all in conjuction. Am I correct?

The math above = $199 retail price -$50 new EVO/2yr offer -$50 OG trade in -$50 extra credit for OG trade in = $49 final price (plus activation, taxes, etc).

Someone was also claiming they'll waive activation as well? I find it hard to believe I'd be able to walk out of BB paying only $49 + sales tax.

Did you read the Best Buy email I posted? I didn't make it up. I read it from their computer, asked to be printed out, scanned to share and for all to read.

If you did read it, what part of

"That's not the only thing that makes this a great deal! With the ongoing offers currently available, cutomers have the opportunity to get up to $150 in gift cards and $50 in savings when they purchase the HTC EVO 4G LTE."

    Did you not understand?

I get it says can't be combined on the fine print.. but the big print in the Best Buy email says different.

And yes, as others on Xda and here have done, when I called Sprint to buy up my upgrade that wasn't due until next year for $115, I asked if he could waive my activation fees. He put a note in my file that when I call back after they appear on my bill, to credit me the amount of activation fees. I have been with Sprint PCS for 9 years, and had a Sprint land line before that.
