Just tried it on my mopho, no luck. It says system is up to date.
2nd, Ive been looking for updates for the past 3-4 days, nothing yet.
tbh, did you get it OTA or from the leak?
I installed from leak--I read that it will start hitting hard tomorrow.
With Motorola phones when the update is ready, you should be able to go to menu>settings>updates, or at least that is how it was done in the past.
Either way, hopefully it will be released soon.
what does this update do?
I got nothing
Patience (or install it manually)... It's coming.
Does the update solve the random reset/power off/battery pull issue?
Still trying to see if it's a hardware or software issue.
2 MoPhos here, 1 works perfectly while the other has the random reset issue. No silent call issues on either.
It is a general consensus that random reboots will not be solved by the MR5 update and are likely a hardware issue. Should exchange that unit.
It is not a hardware specific problem. I have had 4 Photons (yup, 4) and every single one of them did it at some point or another. The one I have now seems to be the best of the bunch, but they all do it. (not saying everyone's will, but they all have the potential to do so)
FYI - According to the Motorola support forum, there has NOT been a MR released for the Photon yet.
mine did one time in my 3 weeks with the phone
I have never had the reboot issue, but I have a lot of the silent call of death issues.
yeah ... im calling Bologna Sammich on this OTA UPDATE
so far its vaporware here on the south of Chitown 7:42 pm aug 22
maybe its on snopes as a hoax
no go here in tampa area
Has anyone actually received the update, or at least a report from someone that has? I think it's safe to go with this being false if not.
Those who have MR-3 are getting it.
Again according to Mark from the Motorola Photon suport forum, there have been NO MR's released for this phone yet.
He went on to say he does not comment on rumors.
I don' t believe they know what the problem is yet.
26 days and counting....
OTA - is it out today? - xda-developers

Some posters on XDA forums claiming to be sprint/moto support techs are saying now that the OTA rollout will be Friday Aug 26th. Supposedly this will be the exact same MR5 update that was leaked there last week.
Another quote was " if you put your phone on performance mode then pull the battery and reboot it seems to help the call muting issue I guess the other modes had something to do with the problem".
Another poster claimed that removing the SIM card helped with the random reboots.
I class all three of these as rumors, but if it helps someone they are worth consideration. Cant see any harm in trying if you have the muting/reset problem.
Google approved the ROM fingerprint for the leaked ROM. I know this because all my apps appeared in the Market (rather than being tagged incompatible with my MoPho) a few days after I installed it. That's all the proof that is required that this is more than a rumor in my book.
Umm I wouldn't take the word of any Sprint tech rep. They're probably going off rumors also. Not saying there won't be one. just wouldn't count on their dates.
And still not sure what's actually going to be updated...an official announcement would be nice.
6 days no update = returned phone. Back to Evo.
