Is there a way for me to sync my outlook CONTACTS to my moment?
I use googlecalendar to sync my outlook events with my google calender so my moment gets the events, but what about contacts from outlook?

    thanks.

ya you can you have to export your contacts in outlook as a .csv file so first go to file then import and export then export to a file then click common seperated values then make sure you click contacts the file willl say .csv at the end after you save it. then you have to go on your gmail that you have syncd with your phone and click contacts then click import and find the .csv file that you saved and as soon as it loads on your gmail they will be automatically on your phone! its great! hope that helps!

that's not syncing. that's copying. syncing can only be done by paid programs unfortunately. My biggest beef with all these new smartphones that rely on google (okay, android and the Pre). HTC includes their sync program but it's basic and full of flaws. I'm in the process of seeing if I like gSyncit. Seems like it will do it all including notes and tasks in the near future. All yours for $15.

My moment hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't followed this to it's conclusion, but I've been able to import my Outlook contacts into Samsung's New PC Studio.

I assume that once I've connected my phone, I'll be able to put them into it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the only thing Studio will do for the Moment (M900) is upgrade the firmware. Per Samsung's FAQ, it's a no go.

I just used exchange but would like to put all my contacts to google since it then allows you to send them directly to voicemail :) already using that function!

I wish there was a way in-phone to change contacts to the source you want be it google, exchange or in the case of the Hero (outlook). Then I just would've just converted all my outlook transferred contacts on my Hero to google and have it sync. It's another thing I don't care for on the limited PIM side of things. If I have something as a non exchange contact and want to add it to exchange, I have to add it manually, I can't just have the "source" changed. Also can't change an appt from one calendar to the other, you have to redo it. Makes no sense. I probably sound like a broken record, but these google oriented PIMs on phones are really limited. Can't search by last name or company. Have to go into a bunch of menus to filter by category. And if you do search for a contact and pick the wrong one, you don't exit out to the search, you have to search from scratch. Frustrating. Welcome to the cloud.

    The cloud is EVIL!

I'm seriously considering a hosted exchange service. I've been looking at SherWeb. It seems to have the best price around ($8.95/mo/mailbox) but also has some great reviews.

Does anybody have any experiences with/recommendations for hosted Exchange services.

How is the ActiveSync client (don't remember the name of it) that is supposed to be included with the Moment?

so far Moxier works pretty well. I don't do much beyond the basics...contacts, calendar and email. Will probably be getting deeper into it as we deal with public calendars from multiple sources, but I think that's more of an Exchange thing. I do wish I could differentiate, color wise, between categories within Exchange and Google. Appointments that are mine and appointments that belong to our group as a whole.

I have numerous email accounts which over time have become so convoluted by multiple forwarding to each other, not to mention Outlook conduits that I get to read all my spam multiple times and get to see that I have a birthday dozens of times.

I'm considering breaking all the links, uninstalling/disabling all of the conduits, just forwarding everything to an Exchange account, and letting Exchange sort them all out with rules.

The only problem I see with that is I'll have to maintain a Google account in order to access the App Store. That means that I'll still have to read Gmail and Exchange mail twice.

    So far I have:

    1. Yahoo POP/IMAP(Maybe)
    2. Hotmail MAPI
    3. AOL IMAP
    4. RoadRunner POP
    5. Mail.com POP
    6. Gmail (two accouts) POP

I use most of them for different reasons, but it's getting to be WAY out of hand. I need a better solution!

As I said in a previous post, the cloud is EVIL! That is exemplified in the way the various providers intentionally (although you'd never get them to admit it) set their rules to exclude the best features of competing providers.

Most notably in that category are Google and M$. Why don't Hotmail and Gmail play well together? And it seems like NOBODY plays with Yahoo.

I may be wrong (and I apologize if I am.. I don't use outlook) but isn't the sync group "work" built into the "contacts" app made to use with Outlook?? when you save a contact it asks if you want to save it as "Google" or "Work".. and you can have them in both and switch them between accounts anytime.

The Moment comes with Moxier Sync, which will sync all Exchange email, contacts, calendar entries, and tasks. This can be accessed on the home screen via Menu-Settings-Exchange Activesync.

If you are running outlook without an Exchange account, you will need to sync Outlook to Google, then Google to Moment. Its not overly difficult, other than the intrusive involvement of Google....

Moxier is included on the phone and does not have an added cost. It will add Work Email and Work Task shortcuts to your menu once configured. However, Moxier will not directly sync to Outlook without an Exchange server in the middle (I think, based on experience!)...

I recently purchased a Samsung Moment and successfully sync'ed my contacts from the MS Exchange Server, but with one problem. The sort sequence on the Samsung is by first name with a few exceptions. I want all to be synced on last name. Any thoughts??????

I used SyncSquare for Android to sync my Outlook contacts directly via WiFi. It worked perfectly for me.

Would you know how to create a distribution list in Moxier?

I think if you forwarded gmail to your exchange account, then disabled gmail's sync via 'MENU-Settings-Accounts and sync', you wouldn't have to worry about that.

And why, after several years, does gmail still not show .eml attachments properly?
