Palm Pre Defector

    Hi there,

    I just got my Evo4G yesterday after breaking my fourth Pre.

    I love the Pre, but it has the durability of balsa wood. I ran up to Best Buy yesterday and decided to go with the Evo4G.

    After going broke paying deductibles to replace the Pre I decided to try Best Buy's Geek Squad protection. It's $10 a month but there is no deductible, hopefully its not a rip-off. Anyone have any experience with the service?

    I'm here primarily to learn about rooting since that seems to be the equivalent to the homebrew (Preware) scene on the Pre.

    I don't know anything about that insurance except that they don't cover you if it's lost or stolen, which is why I have assurion with Verizon. If Sprint has assurion, dump the best buy and get the assurion. Just my .02.

    I've never lost a phone, but I have broken quite a few (mostly Palm Pre's) I thought about going with Sprint, but it is a $150 deductible on the Evo, I figured I would go with Best Buy since there is no deductible.

    I actually found a thread on it and messaged a guy to get some of my questions answered. Loving the forum so far!

    Best buy in general is a rip off, I've had nothing but problems with them. I've never actually bought a phone from them, but the computers and anything else I've gotten have sucked. Their "protection" is me shipping my laptop to India and then waiting two months for them to brick my laptop worse and then re-install vista (I had 7 on it).
