Passthrough not workingSupport

I tried hooking up a coworker's Rhyme to a computer to try out the pc to phone internet passthrough but it won't work. I installed all the drivers that it requested.
The phone does sorta walk you through as to what to do as soon as you plug it in (which is nice) but it's a little vague about how to solve it.

-My PC is networked to our Cable Modem. So the ppp thing can't be the problem.
    -I shut off the firewall.
-I installed the HTC Sync. It says there are no devices.

I wonder what could be the problem.

On top of it, the HTC Sync and the Verizon manager start at startup in the sys tray. Sheesh.

*to clarify, I want to use my PC's internet so that the phone doesn't use up it's 3g data (which is limited to 2GB).

never tried to do this. would be interested to know if you ever figure it out.
  3. Question, why not connect to your home network via wifi, and then disable the mobile network on your phone? You wont use your data plan that way.

That's not what I want. Lets pretend there is no wifi, ok? I'm testing a hard wired PC to phone connection. Supposedly this is a feature?

You want to verify that the phone (wired to a PC) can use the PC's internet connection.

If I pretend there is no WiFi (for the phone), can my laptop be connected to the router through Wifi? I ask becasue my wife has a Rhyme and I can try this out for you. But I have no extra Cat5 cables to connect my PC to the Router directly and Only a 2' one connecting the printer. I really don't want to have a laptop, router, modem and the wife's phone on my lap. :D

Everything has gone SO full force wireless, that the wired aspect has been neglected. Thing is, let's say you're at work. Your phone can't catch a wifi signal. Your (wired) PC has internet. Your phone is sitting next to you, why not have it plugged in USB, and download a couple of podcasts and updates? Would be faster than Wifi too. Same thing at home.
I assume this phone has this functionality, but it doesn't seem to work. I mean, the screen it there to allow this. Perhaps it's borked?

OK, I see why you want it. I just wanted to clarify testing it out so I wasn't giving you bunk. You don't care how the PC gets it internet, WiFi, tin cans and string, whetever. So long as you can hook up your phone via USB and use the PC's connection.

I'll give it a go this weekend and let you know how I make out.:)

    CyberWinter,
I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I did not spend too much time in the same place this weekend (kids) so I didn't get a chance to try this. I just didn't want you to think I forgot about you.
