Since getting my htc desire I have noticed a common theme. A lot of people wanting apps and games and feeling that there is not any decent developers making good apps.

Here is what I would like to know

    1. What is the highest you have paid for an app?
    2. What makes you take a risk and buy an app vs using a free one?
    3. How often do you look for apps?

    1. 4.99 i think

    2. What risk? All pad apps have a 24hour free trial. Refund within that time and you won't be charged. Thus ZERO risk.

    3. Constantly :p

    1. I put down $9.99 for BackCountry Navigator (I'm a fool for maps you see).
    2. Depends on the price for one thing...that and I read any reviews I can to get opinions. Also depends on the perceived usefulness at the time. I didn't hesitate at all to pay for ROM Manager and Root Explorer.
    3. Every day! It's like a sickness I think...:p

That would be great if it can stream channel 100 live from Sirius. I looked in the market but could not find this app. Any idea what's going on?

    1. $32.39 (LogMeIn), might purchase ElkDroid soon ($99).
    2. No alternatives.
    3. Every few days.

    1. $23.99 for the PdaNet full app.
    2. To unlock features the free app is limited to (PdaNet free version - after a certain amount of time you are not able to get on secured websites). Also some people like to gt rid of the ads that the free version has.
    3. Everyday all damn day! :D

    1. $14.99 (MLB At Bat) - worth every penny for a true baseball fan.
    2. I read all the reviews, and don't hesitate to return an app for a refund w/in 24 hours if I decide I don't need/want it.
    3. Not too often anymore. Phone does everything I need it to. I just rooted though, so there are a few apps I'll need to help me customize it.

    1) $2.99. I'm sure there will be something I'll pay more for but in 6 weeks that's my top as of now.

    2) I'll buy it if it has significant advantages over the free version or if I think the developer is on the right track and is helping the platform (and me). Like others said, there is no risk in buying from the Market.

    3) Looking for apps is a journey not a destination. It's a constant thing.

Thanks for finding it there. I keep getting "not found" when I try to download it to install. Maybe it's been pulled and being updated?

    1. What is the highest you have paid for an app?

$7.95 (RepliGo Reader). I have also "donated" to free apps if it is something I really use a lot and feel is above average quality.

    2. What makes you take a risk and buy an app vs using a free one?

The market refund removes most of the risk for me. Usually the paid version offers more functionality and it is something I would definitely use more than occasionally.

    3. How often do you look for apps?
Not so often these days because I have pretty much everything I need, and space is precious. However, I'm always reading reviews and if something peaks my interest, I will check it out.

    1. Haven't paid for anything yet, but haven't had my phone very long, either (<1 week). I'll buy something eventually.

    2. I usually go for the free ones because, well, why not? I forgot about the 24 hour trial, though, something else nicely different from the World of Apple!

    3. CONSTANTLY. I'm always going "Ooo, I wonder if there's an app that does xxx?" and "Oh yeah, there was an app on my iPhone I liked, I wonder if there's something similar on Android?" I'm an App Whore, had over 400 installed on my iPhone, and am on the market multiple times a day. Did that on my iPhone the entire time I had it, too. Apps are what make a smart phone smart, why miss out on something cool?

How does that 24hrs work, I gather that is only for apps in the android marketplace and not apps released on regular websites

How would the programmer protect their property if people buy, refund and keep using there app?

    1. ca. $30 for GolfShot. No, wait, that's not true, I paid for navigon! So some $80 I think.
    2. There is no risk
    3. Couple of times a week

Note that the higher priced apps usually contain a lot of data or extra services too, so it's not just the app you're paying for.

    1. $20 for NHL GameCenter Premium.
    2. No risk as mentioned by many people already
    3. All the time.

I actually prefer to pay for apps since i want quality. Also, coming from the blackberry, Android apps are a bargain compared to the prices you have to pay for blackberry apps. I like to have quality apps that are continuously supported by the developer (and therefore less problems and hopefully less battery drain) and therefore i don't mind paying for apps.

    1. $1.29 for Refine Efficiency
    2. The only inconvenience of 24h free trial is that you should verify all the features of an app in one day.
    3. Every day.

I've paid $5 at least twice.

I am willing to pay for an app if the pay version works. I'm seriously debating upgrading my Evernote account to Premium ($45 annual cost) because its so freakin' useful to me every day.

    All the time.
