PDF onto HudlSupport

Bought myself a Hudl as the write ups were so good.
Went through the opening with no problem.
Transfered an mp3 using click and drag as directed, everything going smoothly.
I then went to drag two PDF files [novels] onto the tablet, which was actually the reason I bought the Hudl.
Whether I place the files in downloads, or create a new file, as described in the instructions, I simply cannot find the novels when searching with the Hudl, but they are there when searching with windows and the storage space has reduced.
I bet I am doing something really silly, but cannot for the life of me work out what.
    Help...............

What app are you trying to use to view the pdf files?

Install a file manager (astro or ES File Explorer) and navigate to where you've copied the pdf to, when you click it, does it give you an option of any apps to open the file?

    I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=udk.android.reader.trial

But you can use the Amazon Kindle app as well.

On the computer I can view the PDF files easily with Adobe Reader X. This is also on the hudl. I have also put kindle on the hudl ready for their files.
I have also downloaded Calibre which asked me if I wanted it to manage hudl for me.
I agreed and configured the hudl as directed then sent the two books to the hudl.
On my computer both windows and calibre say the books are now on the hudl.
When I go to downloads, or indeed any of the other applications on the hudl, there is nothing there.
Is Calibre a file manager, if it is why do not Tesco say you will need it to make the hudl work? This all seems to be a bit beyond the usual user of ebooks, or am I just a bit slow here?
many thanks for trying to help me,
    really appreciated.

Disregard Calibre for managing the hudl altogether. It sounds like calibre is making it more complicated than it needs to be. :)

Just copy the pdf file to a folder of your choice on the tab using Windows Explorer, install the pdf viewer I mentioned and one of the file managers (I use ES), disconnect from your PC, open the file manager, browse to the directory you copied the pdf stuff too and open from there.

Do you have the kindle app too? You can also use that to read pdf files if Ez isn't to your liking.

    All that make sense?

The PDF files are in my documents, in a folder entitled ebooks.
How do I create a tab?
I tried using kindle, it does not find the files either?
I cannot imagine every purchaser of the hudl going through this though, should it not be very much easier.
When I clicked and dragged the files to load onto my wife's kindle it just worked!?

"What app are you trying to use to view the pdf files"?
I was using Adobe Reader X, which I have on both the computer and the hudl.
I have now downloaded kindle to both as well. No matter what I use on the hudl, it cannot find the files.

    tab = tablet/hudl.

    Install this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop

Copy the pdf files to your tablet

    Open ES File Explorer

Navigate to the directory where you placed the pdf file

Click it and you should be presented with a list of programs you want to use to open the file.

Alternatively, the kindle app gave you your own kindle email address so if you email the pdf file to yourself, it will appear in your kindles library.

My kindle uses my amazon email address.
So I emailed the two pdf files to it as directed, it does not appear in kindle on the computer, nor does it appear in kindle on the hudl.
I will go and try the other suggestion.

It's not the amazon email address, Open the kindle app, head to settings and you should see a kindle email address like this -

Using the email account you've registered with Amazon, send the pdf file to that email address and it will be added to the kindle library.

When I opened the kindle application, I did so with the same email address as my amazon email address, so they are one and the same, it does not work.
So I downloaded the google link you kindly sent me and sure enough, the books now appear on the Hudl.
    You have solved my problem,
    very many thanks,
I do feel Tesco should have this information in their operating instructions though, do you agree?

a grateful user of this site.

    Glad you're sorted! :)

Not sure about adding it to the instructions, I sort of see what you mean, but it's difficult to predict what everyone will use the tablet for (although I imagine ebooks would be a popular use) and I imagine they don't want to put unnecessary info in the manual.

I put all my PDFs in one folder I created, and use Cool Reader to read them. I didn't realise anyone else was having this kind of problem! Cool Reader is free, if you like it you can donate. And its an Ebook reader. I also use it for PC.
