Alright, so I'm trying to root and I've managed to get adb shell to work in recovery but when I try to push any of the files I get a permission denied error and nothing can push to it. Has anyone else had this issue or know what I'm doing wrong?

I believe if I understand you correctly.

You want to hit Volume + and Power at the same time and bring up a menu. Then attempt to push an update.zip by selecting it using Volume - and then hitting power or track ball.

Once this fails you can continue on with the 10min video pushing the files.

    Best of luck,
    Flawless

And the files that won't push are any if the five that are needed.

Wow that's rough luck dropping the phone at money time. So just to be clear, you are using the file from the first post of the 10 minute video thread? And you got in once but do you remember how many of the commands you got in before the phone droppage?

I was at cat /sdcard/su>su I was using the commands from the prs guide since the 1.bat didn't work like it did in the video

I think that might be your problem. I'm not sure the PRS will work with the download Diego provided. Try his commands that come in the download if you can get back to that point repeatedly. He included a txt file in the download bundle.

try loop.bat as your command instead.

Yeah I tried the thing is he uses the 1.bat command to push those files and when I try that command it just tells me its an unknown command I'm assuming that is user error but idk

Ok, I'm onboard now. I would try 2 things...first is to use Astro to check if you have the update.zip on your sd already from your first effort that got messed up. If so, I'd delete it. Then try again. Otherwise, I'd ditch the whole SDK folder he provided and redownload it. It's seemingly unlikely, yet possible that something occured during the d/l to corrupt one of the files you're pushing to the phone with the 1.bat command. My guess is it doesn't like the zip being on the card already if that is in fact the case.

Make sure to use his command set if you get back to the point of the 1.bat working as before.

    Hacked,
Just to be 100% sure here, during the dropped phone attempt the 1.bat file worked as designed right? And then the failure was only due to the phone drop and associated problems?

Just wanted to be sure that prior to the first running of 1.bat, you had recieved the following error:

exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)

I assumed you knew that was required to move forward but looking back I never asked and you never said.

Yeah, I got that and 1.bat worked as designed the only issue I'm having now is getting update.zip to work properly it's going over but I get a signature error.

Ok good. I still think ditching the folder and re-downloading might be the answer then. Hope so anyway.

Alright, so I got a chance to try it again and I have no issues getting adb shell to work in recovery but still when I push the files using 1.bat they all get a Permission Denied after them and don't get pushed over and I have tried a 16gig and 2gig card(Both get the - exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -). On the one time they did push Update.zip would not install I would get a signature error. I have a feeling I messed up and will have to wait for a new method if there ever will be one.

So you already scoured your SD card to make sure there's no files on there pertaining to past root efforts?

All that's on there is the super user app but I can't uninstall it other than that everything else is gone. And for the simlock thing do I just choose that option then choose recovery?

Alright so I tried the simlock thing which idk if it'd work since the method I use requires unlicking and reclicking the card and it didn't work. I took a screen cap to help out so you can see what I am.

Ok man, I just re-installed the card I achieved root with. I have the following files/folders on it from the root effort:

    android.tether (folder)
    busybox (file)
    su (file)
    Superuser (application file)
    update (zip)

All of these can be squelched using Astro File Manager. Long press on each of them, then choose edit, then delete. I'm really thinking you need to 86 any/all of these in order to proceed. You may not have all the same ones I do depending on how far you actually got that first time.

Once they're gone, try to get back into adb shell and run the 1.bat once again. I don't know what else to recommend at this point bro but I really want to see you get root. It's become a freakin project almost. :D

Just got rid of everything and still getting permission denied. I do still have the Super User App and I can't uninstall it at all I don't get the option to so idk if that's what is causing the problem or what...

NOTE: This may or may not work, but it won't hurt anything.

Download this file, named "2.bat" and put in your sdk/tools/ folder. Get as far as you can in the root process (right after the update.zip fails) and run 2.bat from Command Prompt, its a loop. Then select the restart option from recovery. Right before the phone reboots, each of those commands should execute. You should be able to boot back into recovery, and pick back up on the rooting instructions.

Ok, I was under the impression that you just had a file on the card but it appears integrated into the phone itself. Guess I should have asked earlier if you were actually seeing the superuser icon on your powered up phone. If so, and perhaps even if not, you may have to go so far as to restore back to ground zero. You'll lose your apps but this should do the trick. If you have Titanium backup, you could retrieve the apps or perhaps use appbrain and export and save your applist for retrieval later. Then follow the steps in this vid:

So, I downgraded with that file and went through all the steps with both cards and I get the exact same error..I'm starting to get the feeling I can't root using this method.
