I'm looking for an Android phone whose camera's speed and exposure settings can be set via an built-in or market application, or under program control. I'm planning on capturing pictures of chemical test strips and need to run through a variety of f-stop and shutter speed trials to determine which setting works the best.

I've got a Droid X and Nexus One to play with but haven't found a utility or programming method to do what I want.

    Can anybody suggest a solution?

    Thanks.

Is that true even when I root the phone? In other words, do any of the custom ROM's provide such access to the camera's "manual" settings?

There are no 'manual' settings... it's a VERY basic camera. You're looking for high-end point and shoot camera and DSLR settings on a cell phone... give it another 10 or 12 years, we'll have the camera's good enough at the size we need that have those options.

Isn't this something more for a REAL camera?
