    D1, 2.2os.

Browsing my gallery and found photos that are from my online Picassa account, but I can not locate them on my phone.

Details shows "Location Unknown" and Astro file manager can not find them in a search.

I would like to know how they ended up on my phone and how to get rid of them.

    Anybody else run into this?

They are not on your phone. Your phone is probally set to sync with your Picassa acount so it is using the internet to view them. If you dont want to see these pictures on your phone go to settings, Accounts & sync settings, Manage accounts, and uncheck Sync Picassa web Albums.

+1 They are not on your phone, they're on the CLOUD!

Something must have happened with a recent update. READ - just showed up within the last couple of weeks.

    Settings/Accounts & Sync Settings/Manage Accounts...

All that is there is my 2 gmail accounts. No Picasa (I know their married, but I would presume that email sync is just that - email). Not all my albums from Picasa are on...showing in my gallery. All but one of my Picasa albums are unlisted.

    Very odd.

    Any one else?

Is the CLOUD comment a SA remark, or is there a program/app called CLOUD?

Background data was turned on, now off. Both my email accounts are turned off (I only sync manually).

Auto sync is grayed out (not a current option).

Not a smart ass remark at all:
Cloud computing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is similar to how your e-mails in Gmail are not stored on your phone or PC, they are stored in the CLOUD (i.e. on Google's servers).

So I really wouldn't worry about having access to your Picasa photos... I would consider it a bonus.

But if you REALLY don't want them showing up in your gallery it's really easy. Hilly65 already told you how to do it but I guess you're not very good at following basic instructions.

Settings > Accounts & sync > Tap account that has your Picasa photos > Uncheck Sync Picasa Web Albums

    Not called for.

Mmmmkay. Not an option. I tap on the gmail account that the picasa is linked to, there is only "Touch to sync now". No check box, no option as to which one to or not to sync.

    Other items on the same account;
Sync Contacts - last done 6-16-2010
Sync Gmail - last done 9-28-2010
Sync Picasa web albums - done today
Sync Calander - Last done 8-20-2010

Well I didn't really appreciate the insinuation that I was being a smart ass when I wasn't, but I do apologize for the demeaning remark. Sincerely, it was not called for, I'm sorry.

I don't know what to tell you. You're turning something that's a total bonus into a problem. You're probably in the 0.1% of people who choose to manually sync these things. What is the problem? The photos are not stored on your phone anywhere, they are not taking up space. Most of us would think it's cool to have access to our photos from the cloud.

I'm really not trying to be a jerk I'm just completely puzzled as to why it bothers you so much that you can now view your Picasa photos from the cloud.

publicanimal - OK, misunderstanding on both ends. Lets start over.

I manually sync to keep the battery going as long as possible (typically over a week between charges). I work 60 hours a week as a field service mechanic, and generally my only need for email is when I am waiting for a diagram, trouble shooting tree, or...instructions on how a thing comes apart and back together again (a bit more involved than "basic" instructions...sorry had to take that shot  )

I keep personal info off the phone. No passwords, I do not log into banks or anywhere I have a credit card stored for purchases. My personal address is not on the phone, nor is there any details about me. This is a personal security matter. If the phone gets lost or stolen, I have less to worry about, and address after the fact.

There are however pictures on my web albums that I do not want available to viewing other than secured login via home computer. Personal items, property, vehicles, ect (nothing illicit or illegal).

The same reason that I do not keep insurance or registration in my vehicles. They are in my wallet at all times. If my vehicle gets stolen while I am shopping, then the thieves don't know where I live and go on a shopping trip of their own while I am stranded waiting for the LEOs to arrive to make a report.

    Anyhow....

Yes...nice feature...I can see the handiness...want it gone.

Yikes, I'm sorry for doubting. Sounds like you have a very good reason not to want it!

I'm assuming you're using a screen lock on your lock screen? Might be your best bet until you get it figured out. Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful.

Have you tried removeing the account from your phone and then reinstalling it.

Yup, got the screen lock going since I got the phone.

I was thinking this over and that was the only thing I could come up with to get the pics off the phone.

Is the whole Picasa feature new with the 2.2 build? I don't remember seeing that when I initially set up the account (late last year).

Yes, the Picasa feature was added with 2.2. The FRG01B update to be exact.
