Help Pics with flash

Guys

my Samsung s3 camera works perfectly with pics without flash

With flash, I get results like the attached. Tried cleaning the lens but stays the same

What do you suspect to be the problem?

Is your phone stock or rooted? Does it have a custom rom? Has it ever been dropped?

rooted and custom rom for over 2 years now but this issue just popped up. The phone hasn't been dropped recently. If someone feels this is a costly HW issue, then I need to buy another phone but if it's software related, I could do something I guess

Are you using the stock camera app? I've had that problem with some third party camera apps but not the stock one.

i would try flashing a different rom or maybe flashing a back up and see if it changes? maybe clearing the caches will help? id suspect if it does it on different roms/stock rom then it just might be hardware related. you say it hasnt been dropped recently, but that implies it has been dropped before right?
