    Hi.

Sounds like you've turned your data connection off.

Been going back and forth with tmobile for two weeks about this issue, it's not a problem that you can fix, it's something to do with the connection. They credited my account $5 (which doesn't seem enough) and said they are working with htc to resolve the issue, which has no estimated time of completion

I get the same message (generic network failure) when i'm abroad (out and about in europe) and i want to send mms.
Sorry to be blond here but why do i have to have the 'data conn.' on for mms? My old Nokia didn't need that and i didn't even have a data allowance on my old contract??
And another thing is i can't attach 'pictures' only 'slides'. Even if i'm in texting and want to attach a snapshot from the camera it automaticaly converts it into a slide )-:
My wife has got the htc wildfire and that does it like it should, select picture and it's a pic or select slide and it's a slide!!!!
The stupid person in the vodacon shop tryied to convince me that the desire only does slides....!!!

When you add pictures to mms it is a slideshow. If you only attach 1 its a 1 image slideshow.

    I don't thinks its a problem

It just doesn't make sense that there are two options, one for single pictures and one for slideshows when the handset automatically chooses slides (on the desire) where the wildfire does it no probs. Same phone family.
It is very annoying if you want to send pictures from abroad and your recipients get slideshows.

Mms technology is quite old now anyway. If I have data I tend to use email as its cheaper

Yeah, might try that but it still bugs me because from abroad i get charged an arm and leg if i keep my phone on roaming unless i just switch it on for that purpose but then it could be so much easier ...

The problem is you have to turn on data anyways. Of course you could wait to find an open WiFi hotspot

The only thing I switch off when abroad is my 'Mobile Network (connect to internet)
and Mobile Networks < Data roaming .
    Everything else is on.
I can make and receive calls, send sms etc,

Is there anyone else out there with a Desire who can check out if your handset does the same??
Go into messages, click attachment and you get the list of
    image, sound,contact,calendar and slideshow.
Choose image and see if it automatically coverts your pic into a slide.

Calls and SMS need GSM but MMS, email and internet require data.

Mine puts pics as slides too and this is a standard android rom, not htc.

Confirmed, image attachment automatically becomes a 1-slide slideshow, semi-annoying.

the recipient receives it as a normal mms not a slide, they only receive it as a slide if the device is another android or the device only supports slide feature

ive tested this many times sending to various phones
