I'm not sure this is the right place but I'm referring to the standard gallery viewer.
The other day I found myself looking at a picture zoomed in but your dinner is always in the way when scrolling around.
I found that if I hold my scrolling finger in one place and move the phone instead of the finger it have a better sense of scale.
This gave me an idea. That I have no way to make happen myself. Here goes. Make it so the motion sensor or camera locks into the start position that you select. Then have the phone move the picture based on moron so your finger isn't in the way and scale is like looking through a small viewer window.
