Play Question..General

    Hey guys,

    Has anybody managed to get through to some body with a sense of direction at play.com?

    I've spoke to 3 different people and they all seem to beat around the bush when i ask them;

    1. Is the release still tomorrow (19th) as it sais on the website.
    2. What colour will it be (the picture on the website is black)

    All 3 of Play.com's "experienced representitives" couldn't give me a straight answer and said "i think "and "dont quote me on that" too many times for my liking.

    Does anybody actually have any information on the above questions? Any details would be very appreciated

    Hi Warren,

    I'm in the same boat as you, with a pre-order at Play.com. I hadn't even considered the colour of the phone, so that'll be interesting.

    I've had the same experience as you with them, just monkeys on the phones. No fault of their own, probably. =/

    Assuming their release date is the 19th, will they ship today or tomorrow? I've got order-status-checking OCD today. :p

    Haha same here, there isn't a support email in sight either, just a waiting game, at least they haven't changed the date (yet) fingers crossed we get a despatch email tomorrow or something. If not I won't be a happy bunny.

    Also the colour will be interesting, the copper colour looks horrid, hope it's the black as shown.

    I'll give it a quick go.

    On the colour issue, a lady told me it was black as pictured, but then said she couldnt be sure, I don't mind the Brownish Grey or whatever it is but id rather have it in black.

    Yeah, if they get it in tomorrow, they should send off all pre-orders the same day, however we may be the unlicky ones :(

    And same here, muct of clicked refresh on the order tracking page about 200 times by now :p.

    To whom it may concern,

    I would like to know whether the HTC Desire HD Pre-Order is still being released on the 19th of this month. Also if it is black as in the picture or the copper coloured one.

    If it is being released on the 19th as the site still says what day will they be despatched?

    Recieved a reply, quite fast to be fair, however all they've done is copy and paste the details page from the website, this is probably a bif F U about the date, but the colour isnt even mentioned in writing, and I'm not one to trust pictures from experience.

    I'm gonna dive in and put faith in what is said/written, and will be expecting a black handset by the end of the week, which upsets me as i have a big job interview wednesday :/

    I emailed both customercare@play.com and helpdesk@play.com email addresses yesterday and had a response from both this morning.....

    and a slightly more "human" response

    So still not too sure to be honest lol! Guess I'll have to wait and see:rolleyes:

    Play are in general speedy at getting products to you, but their customer service is poor....

    Sigh, no-one wants to say a date because if they're wrong it'll be their asses on the line :D

    Hello all, new member here.

    Pre-ordered from Play.com as well. Customer service seem to be instructed to dumb-it-down as much as possible as to avoid complaints and the like by not specifying an exact date.

    We'll have to wait and see!

    I'd agree....


    However i think if it wasn't to be tomorrow, they would of changed the date by now...though i might be wrong

    Really can't wait. Have had a god-awful blackberry for the last three years...I really need a monster of a smartphone.

    2 Android HTC's (Hero and Desire) have struggled to last me over 6 months, but i think this might last me some time...it looks amazing and sexy, really cant wait.

    If i get a dispatch email I'll be doing back flips for about 3 weeks.

    What's the status of everyone's Play.com order? Mine's still stuck on 'pre-order'. Ordered on October 1st.

    Can't believe I've been watching this so avidly all day, ha. :eek:

    Your all scaring me now...i pre ordered mine on the friday.

    Does that matter? will it put me at risk of not getting one?

    I highly doubt it, depends if they use the first come first served basis and go by the date pre-ordered.

    As of midnight October 18/19, the status has changed to 'Awaiting stock'. I hope this isn't a bad omen.

    Awaiting stock: Your item is temporarily out of stock. Please view the product details for an expected re-stock date.

    Product description still says 'Due for release on Oct 19', so I'll be patient for a little longer. :p
