I took some video with my point-n-shoot camera last night. I dragged it over to the Droid's SD card, but when I try to play the video on the Droid, it doesn't work. What format does the video have to be in? What is the best software to convert it? Thanks!

I tried using Picasa and Windows Movie Maker. It won't play as a WMV file.

The DROID natively records in .3gp format. It supports many formats like mp4, 3gp etc., etc... Not sure which is the best (quality vs. filesize) I've heard many people mention that they use HandBrake to convert their videos. I'm going to download it now and see if I can't convert an .mov file from my camera. The strange thing is, my .mov files play, but there's no sound.

FWIW, you might want to look into installing Meridian Player Noble. I like it's interface a lot.

the droid will play SOME wmv files, no clue why it will play some but not others but it does.
I have handbrake and it works well for converting.

the file type you want it to be is an MP4.

Thanks. I downloaded the newest version of Handbrake from their website for Win7. Used the iphone preset. Works great!

Yep ... followed my own advise and successfully converted an .mov file using the iPhone preset. Perfect.
