Hi, I'm new to the Android universe; just got my LG Optimus V yesterday. From what I understand, we can play videos on that phone. So I just put an XVID file on the SD card to try to play it (Wikipedia says it supports XVID, not sure if that's true). But I can't seem to find it or find the right player to look for it. So how exactly do I play videos on this phone?

You can play xvid files with Rock Player. Otherwise, if you want to use the stock player, you would need to convert videos to h264 baseline codec in a mp4 container.

Wikipedia means maybe your mobile phone can playback MP4 video with XVID code...

Thanks, that worked! By the way, does anyone know if this phone can be upgraded with Android 2.3?

If it does, your phone would pop up with an update. As of now, I dont think that has it yet.
