I'm trying to drag and drop a movie .mp4 file into the phone and I am only getting the options to charge, sync, disk drive etc. I have read you have to get a pop up window that says mount sd card so you can go into the sd card but i am not getting that, and when i go to pc connection its greyed out saying unmount sd card (does that mean i am already accessing it?)

Either way i am not getting a mount card window, so how do i transfer the movie? I see a media folder when i choose disk drive but all i see is a folder that says audio ... do i make a video folder and drop it in there? I need it to go on the card, please help, very frustrating :(

OK, once connected, your SD card is just like another HD on your computer. Will show up as D drive, or whatever next free drive letter you have. Then simple. Copy movie from drive it is on computer to new drive that is really your SD card. Make a folder that makes sense to you. Don't worry, and media application will always find it wherever you put it.

But really, just like copying the movie over to a laptop or spare HD. Just make sure disk drive is chosen first. And then go find your SD card as a drive on computer and make sure you can access it.

I don't know and understand your frustration. But.....got you this far, it is a start. :->

I too went through issues as I have over 8gb of music videos on my phone now. Finally found a fantastic converter used for Zune. Is a pay version but works SO well. I am in Charleston today, be home tonight, will at least PM you the name of the program I use if you want to explore that option. But my conversions are now perfect and I am utterly amazed at the quality. So will at least let you know that option is available.

Many folks use Handbake, do a search for that, and see how folks say you should set it up. Is free I understand too.

But promise to at least followup with the name of the program I use.

Interesting, I do have Astro file manager installed, but it doesnt run in the background ...

I tried playing the converted .mp4 on my PC and it was too scrambled up, so i am thinking dvdcatalyst for the evo has issues, or it maybe that i am using one of those dvd's that come with the blurays so you can make a digital copy and its encrypted .. but funny thing is it converted fine to .mp4 just plays scrambled ...

Handbrake seems like the way to go as i have done that with the Palm Pre and had decent results ..

Right now though handbrake is unable to see my dvd in the drive, so i am thinking that its the dvd copy protection kicking in which is annoying because this is suppose to be a copy of a bluray IN DVD FORM that you can transfer to your other devices (so why the limitations) ...

Would doubletwist be better in this situation?

Just use RockPlayer and it can play .avi's, mkv's, .wmv's

    Do a search for it.

I suppose the key question is: what's the source format file? Is it a single file, multiple files, folder structure, etc? Or, is it a completely separate DVD disk? If you have a file name or something, that can narrow it down. It sounds like that it's a normal DVD that just happened to be included with the BluRay. As far as I know, those still have normal copy protection schemas.

From your description of a scrambled file, it seems like DVD Catalyst just did a bad encode since DRM'ed files would normally crap out immediately or give errors on the rip (track seek errors, etc, etc). I did take a quick look at DVD Catalyst's website, and they did indicate their their recent version was hosed. Maybe revert back to a previous version?

'Course, it could be some random proprietary copy protection that whatever studio produced your BluRay came up with. Things like ACROSS and RipGuard shouldn't affect the final video like that, but who knows what some studios might put on DVDs.

Back to the OP -- sometimes when I try to select disk drive mounting, the setting takes on the phone, but the computer still sees nothing. It then takes a reboot of my PC and/or the Evo for it to properly mount.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah it was a normal DVD that came with a blu-ray ....i am thinking its dvdcatalyst ... only problem now is that handbrake won't recognize there is a dvd inserted which is strange because i have done it with that program before ... i think because the disc is copy protected because it shows as Time Warner Video as the title and now the actually title of the movie as i cant find the actual video_ts files (they must be hidden) so thats annoying ... gonna try dvd shrink first than handbrake -

Um, offhand maybe try running a scandisk on the SD card once you do get it fully mounted, and then try a regular unmount vice disconnecting the cable. The only time I've run into something similar to this was when my hub was messing up. You can also try a different USB port directly on the motherboard to help rule that out.

DVD Shrink doesn't remove copy protection as far as I know, unless you're using an intermediary program. I'm not sure how much detail I can go to in a post, so I'll not go too far and risk a ban :) Granted, though, it's been a while since I've shrunk a DVD with a HTPC and a 8TB data store.

OH! It might also be an autorun program screwing around with things. Try ejecting the DVD, then holding Left shift while you put the DVD in. Keep holding it down until the light on your DVD-ROM stops. It's a bit of a long shot, but that can at least help reduce layers of variables between you and the DVD. I've never heard of DVD copy protections preventing folders from showing up in Explorer, though there's no telling what they're going to try to come out with nowadays.

Ok so dvdcatalyst works great just not with digital copies of blu rays or anyother copy of a dvd that comes in a package.... took about 1.5hrs to copy over another dvd to .mp4 and the quality is as good as its gonna get for a regular dvd, but the good thing is it fills the whole screen!

So now i gotta figure out how to do blu rays to .mp4 or digital copies but i guess we cant get into this here ...
