Help Please help to root

Hello! I'm new to Android forums. My devices are a OnePlus One xperia and a canvas a1. I need to root my canvas a1. When I bought the a1, it was running kitkat, but then I installed the official lollipop update. Now I wish to root my a1 and install cyanogenmod in it. Please help, I'm a beginner.

Unfortunately we don't have a sub-forum for this device so advice will be very limited. I did however find a thread over at xdadevelopers which looks promising.

pretty simple procedure really, if you have the android sdk the steps are as follows:
1) enable usb debugging on the device and allow your computer to connect with it.
2)type "adb reboot bootloader" minus the quotations.
3)once phone is at the bootloader menu type "fastboot oem unlock", then "fastboot format userdata"
4) you can now flash a recovery of your choice. philz/twrp/cwm (download the recovery for the canvas and put it in the same folder as adb ex : c:/android/sdk/platform-tools/)
5) rename the recovery to "recovery.img" and in fastboot type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
6) download the supersu zip file of your choice and flash it within the recovery menu.
