I am new to Android. Does anyone know if there is a way to create a shortcut on the desktop directly to an Excel "documents to go" file that is stored on G docs?
    thank you:)

You can create a bookmark, then create a shortcut to that bookmark and put it on the home screen, not the "desktop".

You need a file manager for this (e.g. Estrongs File Explorer).

Open Estrongs, find excel file, long press on the excel file > Link.
The shortcut to the excel File is on your current home screen :)

That does create a link to the file and I can edit it in the browser so i guess that will work but I would rather open it with "docs to go" as it is easier to edit this way. But if there is not a way for me to do it that way then this will work.
    Thank you:)

That would only open it in the browser. The OP is looking to have it open in Docs2Go.

Really? I just told you... Add a bookmark, then add a shortcut to that bookmark to the home screen.

There really is no way to create a shortcut DIRECTLY to open a file in docs2go. You can create a shortcut to the app, and I believe the app will leave your last file open, so that might actually work.
