Port Verizon CDMA Motorola Droid Razr to Boost?

A friend of mine got a new phone and he knows I love Android phones so he gave me his old Motorola Droid Razr just to have and play around with and maybe let my son play with it as a toy for emulators and movies etc. Well the phone is awesome and I want to port it to Boost lol. So is there anyway somebody can give me detailed instruction on how to port this phone to Boost fully working (calls, 3G, sms, mms etc)? I know it's possible because it is a CDMA device. Any help would be really appreciated. It would absolutely make my day to make this phone work on my current Boost phone number.

It involves swapping the meid and serials from a boost phone you have to the new phone. Can't really post about it in the forum but I suggest asking coolaser, he did it with a nexus

I was just going to swap the information from my Marquee to the Razr. I've done this before, but only once. I put my old HTC Hero on Verizon for a friend of mine and gave it to him. Someone sent me the instructions from XDA because i'm a member there as well. I could look through my inbox maybe the message might still be in there lol. Can I ask why we can't discuss that information here? I mean this is a modding community, is it illegal?

Yeah I found him and sent him a message, hopefully he'll be able to flash this awesome phone so I can use it on my Boost Shrinkage.

No doubt. That would be great if he could. It should be possible since it's a CDMA phone. Let us know how it goes.

I've been looking for instructions all over the web and can't find anything. I wonder if it could be as simple as plugging my LG marquee into my PC, copying everything from DFS tools to the Droid Razr. Any input?

I asked this question on another thread, and someone replied it couldn't be done because Boost Mobile is GSM. (smh) But even if Boost were GSM it should still be possible with the Droid Razr either way because it's CDMA and GSM for the LTE radio. There are people working on unlocking the GSM part of it to use on Straight Talk, AT&T etc. But I have Boost damnit! lol

Nope. I do know a little about doing it because I had a friend do an Evo. He gave me just a basic rundown on what he was doing and it can get difficult at times. It is by no means a simple matter. You can run in to mms and 3g issues too. It ended up taking him quite some time before he had everything working.

Damn, I'm really bummed out. I got it for free! I mean Free! lol. There are threads all over the place where dev's are trying to GSM unlock it so it can be used by AT&T, T-Mo, and Straight Talk but no dice yet. If I could GSM Unlock it I would switch to Straight Talk and use this bad boy! I guess i'll just update it to ICS, root it, install some games on it and give it to my son. He's 7 and is always wanting to play with my phone or tablet, so i'll give him This Droid Razr to play with since i can't do anything with it :(

The only GMS ( sim card )that BOOST has is the IDEN which has walkie talkie capability, but anyways let me tell you this, at my store we were selling the evo from sprint flash to boost mobile and we customer had experience internet issues and reception as well, my customers brought me back those phone and purchase regular boost mobile phones, so we decided no more flashes, and the area where we are 3g is really good, we have done Samsung galaxy from Verizon, HTC hero, evo 3D and same problem with all, bottom line is just upgrade for a boost mobile handset in case that you don't like your actual phone, oh yes I forgot to tell you, the version that you have its a world edition phone, (its navy blue if not mistaken) that means that is a gsm phone that would work on the verizon GSM global network in case that you are in other country, if you unlock that phone it wont work on North america only in Europe, Im telling you this because I unlock one for a customer and try to use it on t-mobile network and ATT and didnt work, :smokingsomb:

Yeah it's a world phone. The version I have is black and it's Verizon branded. It's CDMA/GSM (GSM for the LTE) but is also quad band GSM/UMTS for overseas. I'm following a thread on XDA where they are trying to unlock the GSM part of the phone to be used by AT&T and T-Mo. It's been hit and miss. Some people say they have got it to work on AT&T or Straight Talk for voice but no data or anything else. But it's not that big of a deal. I'll just give it to my Son to play with. I'll be getting a new phone in a few months.

I've flashed alot of different phones but not a world phone. I don't really think that it would be much different but am kinda curious. You do need a donor here's my youtube webpage MrRobertDeanJohnson's channel - YouTube it should be able to help you out

Also if you were thinking about switching companies verizon 50 dollar prepaid works great

Thank You. If I were able to do it, which i'm still researching, I'd just use my Marquee as my Donor phone.
