So there was that other Radio Shack that wasn't exactly positive the other day, and seemed to have a lot of angry replies, so I'd just thought in fairness, I'd post my positive RS story. Please note, this is about exchanging an Evo, so if you don't like these kinds of posts, you won't like this one either.

Last week, probably around the 5th, I noticed my Evo wasn't charging when plugged into the car charger. I hoped this was a defective car charger, but as the days went on the same started happening with the wall charger. Last Friday, I went to a Sprint Store looking to see if this was covered under the warranty (just over that 30 day limit), but apparently it wasn't a corporate store. Went to the corporate store, but they can't do anything about it because I bought it at Radio Shack, and that store didn't have a tech that could look at it. I didn't think Radio Shack would be able to help since I passed that 30 day limit, and I thought I had to contact HTC.

Went to Radio Shack, they took one look at the phone and said "yeah, loose connection" and set me up for a replacement. They guy said they actually kept a few on reserve for defects, which I thought was pretty clever, and ordered the replacement. My only complaint was that they said "it'll show up on Monday" but it didn't show up until today. I wasn't expecting it to be quick, so if they said Thursday (that store's normal receiving day) I'd have been happy. Kind of got my hopes up when they didn't have too. (Apparently the warehouse sometimes will send special shipments, which the manager thought this would be considered, but I guess not)

I've been with Sprint for probably around 8 years, in that time, I have had to get two phones replaced, and they were both miserable experiences. One was a crap Toshiba flip phone 5 years ago, which needed to be replaced every two months (my last replacement was on the last day of the warranty, luckily), and two years ago I had a problem with my MotoQ. To be fair, both of these problems happened before Sprint tried to fix their horrible customer service, but my point is, the one time I needed an exchange from a third party vendor, it went pretty smoothly. Another justification for me to have bought the phone from them (that, and the instant rebate of course).

Now, if only Radio Shack would stop asking for my phone number when I buy $2 cables...

My experience with the Shack looks to be good as well. Got my phone on launch day and it has the some light leakage. Called them up around day 25 and told them I wanted to exchange it for another one.

They obviously did not have any at the time but the guy told me when he gets them in he will hold one for me and not to worry about the 30 day policy. I told him, in that case I was in no rush and whenever he has one to give me call.

Got a call today to come and pick it up. Told him I will be by over the weekend and he said no problem.

So now I am just hoping the replacement will not be worse then the one I have now. Besides the light leakage, everything else seemed to be fine. So I am a little nervous about the change and still contemplating it.

At least I bought myself a couple of more days to think about it. I think my biggest fear is dead pixels!

I also had a good experience with RS. I got a phone that had a bad camera. I mean REALLY bad. It was as if the setting was on POSTERIZE x 5 all the time. Also, the ear speaker crackled while in calls.

I called up RS and they had none in stock so they put me on the waiting list. Waited a couple weeks and then even though I loved the phone, I went in around day 28 to return the phone and go back to my old phone. It looked like they weren't gonna get any in stock and I didn't want to risk getting stuck with a bad phone (mine) or a refurb replacement.

Well, when I went in I told them I was looking for a replacement and I'm on the list. They said they have none in stock so I said "ok, i'm returning the phone and want to re-activate my old one". They then went to the back and pulled out a brand new phone that they were apparently holding just for me (that's exactly what she told me). So I got that phone and now everything works on my phone. Love it.

I had a very good reason to replace my phone. Maybe I'm going to sound stupid... but why are people replacing a phone because of a little light leakage that is only noticable if you're looking for it? My phone probably has some light leakage, but I'm not sure because I haven't looked for it. Everything works!

Also had good service from RS! I was just over my 30 day return period and called them up because I had some touch screen issues where I couldnt long press keyboard keys on occation. They said not to worry abouthe 30 days and I have one waiting for me to pick up this afternoon. Wonder if they will let me keep my SD card...

They let me swap my SD cards. I think they were planning on swapping them anyway, because when I asked they said "yeah" in a way like that was the plan to whole time.

When he pulled out the box, for a moment I got excited that perhaps I was getting another wall charger for free, but no, they use it to send the phone back. Makes sense, but I was hoping.
