Support Possible Overheat

    I have had overheating problems with this phone from the beginning. I am currently on my second epic because of overheating. When I first noticed it, I took it to sprint and they found the phone to be damaged. I am kind of under the impression that my second epic could be damaged as well. When its charging, my phone idles at 32 to 35 degrees centigrade. When unplugged, it will idle around 23 to 25 degrees centigrade. I was wondering what temperatures the other epic users are getting. I am just concerned because the phone gets fairly warm to the touch. My first epic reached 45 degrees centigrade at times and that was obviously defective. I would really appreciate responses. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this phone and would love to continue using it without having to worry about over heating issues. Thank you in advance.

    Since getting my epic, the only issue I always had with the phone is overheating. Since I look at Farenheit I will report what I saw. When charging and browsing I got a whopping 115F! When not charging and browsing I reach about 97F. I'm also trying my second battery to see if its the battery or the phone, and the second battery also becomes very warm. So I'm also curious to hear what other temperatures others are reporting. (BTW I called Samsung's Tech Support to hear from them what temp is considered normal, but they didn't have a clue...)

    How do you get a temp. reading? I did get a thermometer that appeared once, while charging and using the gps, but no exact read out.

    Adlebo, if you are getting about 115 F, I would suggest taking it to sprint. That's about what mine was reaching and they said my phone was damaged and replaced it with a brand new epic. It is kind of weird that the phone is getting so hot. What I find even more weird is that there aren't many people complaining about it. I used the Battery Watch app to get a temp reading. That app is also free in the market. I hope this overheating gets a fix in the near future. At these temperatures, the phone could get damaged badly over time.

    just my 2 cents, these phones including the vibrant and captivate get very hot when charging, and get very warm during normal use.

    my phone gets very hot, sadly it is normal

    The vibrant has a built in temp monitor

    go to your dialer
    dial in *#*#4636#*#*
    then click battery information
    it will display the temperature in degree celcius.
    hope this works on the epic.

    you can easily convert to fahrenheit by taking your temp in degree celcius, multiply it by (9/5) then add 32.

    formula:
    Tf=(9/5)Tc +32

    I idle at around 23-27 c, max i've seen my phone hit was 37c.

    Alright, thank you so much for the feedback. I feel better knowing that the temp readings I'm having are normal.

    my phone idles around 82f and 28c and right now its 30c and 86f is that normal temperature that im getting ever now?

    could you help me with my beloved epic, when im using oovoo or purplevrs about when that is in use and my phone heating on the galaxy s area its going over 90s and recently hit 100s and now 102 now when im not using its go back to normal temperature along with web usage same thing with heating up? Strange enough, my second epic is doing same thing like first one epic i was getting, now charging, not get too hot kinda warm not too hot, like normal but video chat apps and web making my epic heating up like crazy. :(
