I got tired of waiting on the Backflip, so I went and got a toy phone in the form of an HTC Aria. Well the Aria was rooted in 4 days. Looking at that root, I think it is worth trying on the Backflip.
Since I have a rooted Aria I will be the guinypig of rooting the Backflip, but I need a SIGNED update for the Backflip.
The HTC root works off a flaw in the way Android handles file copies. Now in order to try this, you need to have an ADB bridge in recovery mode.

If this works, ota.zip needs to be replaced with a valid Backflip update.
I have no idea if this will really work, but it's worth a try.
