I might be picking up a G1 soon...

I intend to ditch and replace my current cell, my iPod Touch, and use only the G1 for phone and media...

I see we have TuneWiki - is this the only music browser/player interface available?

What other media / music/video players are available? I see only one thing so far and its Youtube.

Also, how much longer until the GPS solutions are worked out? I don't really see a decent working app that emulates something like a car's GPS unit or navigation... :/

I realize its still new and all... just looking for insight

    Thanks

we have imeem and stream furious. stream fur is a internet radio which is pretty koo and imeem plays all kinds of different music. this phone is amazing. i recommend just downloading your own music and then transferring to your sd card. gps........well, were all waiting for a turn by turn app. but were an open source so its very possible. our possibilities are almost limitless! word of advice......get the G1......

I have the potential to do whatever I want too, right?

Just because we can, doesn't mean it will be done.. Is there current progress on the GPS app? Not important to me really but I want to be able to have it.

ALL my music is in 192-320kbps MP3 format - I hope the G1 does a good job of playing good quality music. So you are saying I just transfer the songs to my SD Card and play it like that? I had planned on using the sourcefourge method of using iTunes so I can maintain my nice playlists and have automatic syncing which will be fantastic.

I don't care much for radio - I have 11GB of music and had advertisements that are longer than songs.

    Thanks for your input

The G1 has a native music player it is ok TuneWiki is better as it gets album art and lyrics off the web and does like a kareoke style thing with the lyrics. As far as video there are several apps on the market place, but due to the limitations of codec to the mp4 or 3gp format you have to convert everything and I have had mixed results. Comming from an ipod you may already have video in mp4 so it wouldn't be an issue. Keep in mind that the bluetooth on the G1 is v1.0 so you can't use wireless headphones (yet, seams like we are waiting for several things)
