For some reason, the send key wakes up my phone. This started happening when I got 2.1. Anyone else have an Eris where the send key wakes it up?

Mine will only do that if I just turned off the screen: If I'm using the phone, turn off the screen, and immediately hit send, it turns back on. If the phone's been sitting there for a while with the screen off, and I hit send, it doesn't do anything. Weird.

Just tried it and mine does the same. Once it has been off for a couple seconds the only thing that will wake it is the end button...

I don't really worry about it though.

Do you have a app like spareparts? Or a lock screen replacement app? That could be causing it.

it works the same for me, just like Nestor outlined. Seems it was designed that way, not a bad thing. I can't see why it would be a problem that it works that way.

Mine has always done that; both real keys and the trackball wake it up, while only the power key on the right puts it to sleep.

Now that Ive been playing with mine, it does always turn on by using the send key. I turned the screen off and soon as i did the send key turned it back on like nestor said, but i let it sit for a while and it came on using the send key. Doesn't bother me at all but ive never noticed it. weird.

My trackball and volume keys do nothing when screen is off. Only seems to be send and end buttons.

Same here, Send & Power/end buttons wake, but only the Power/end make the phone sleep.

The trackball clicking and waking it up was bothering me when I first got the device, so I went to the Verizon store and purchased a nice, hard shell case for it; problem solved.

It's in my shirt pocket most often now anyway.

The trackball doesn't turn my screen on, but the send key does. Never noticed it until now. It's odd, I never knew that it did that.
