I just talked with a 'new' AT&T store near me, which looks like AT&T Store, but is an authorized reseller. They said the phone would be 219.95.

    Anyone else seeing that?

I told her the price was advertised for 199.95. She said she would check into it.

I've talked to a AT&T store and a Reseller and both told me 199 in their computers. Perhaps they were adding on some charge or what not transfer blah de blah...

Every place I called that was aware of the captivate said $199 on contract.

Sure, they can ask $5000 if they want to. My question is anyone seeing other than 199.

Perhaps she was including the $18 upgrade fee? That's close to the price given.

I've seen it pretty commonly for authorized resellers for pretty much every other phone AT&T sells. I haven't gone to one in a long while though so not sure what they're selling the Captivate for around here.

That very well could be. I didn't know there was an upgrade fee.

they told me there'd be an 18 dollar upgrade fee and yes i have had experience with other phones. If the store is an "authorized reseller" and not a corp store they generally have higher prices.

The upgrade fee is on your bill, should not be at the time of sale.

Is there an upgrade fee if we buy the phone for the $350 no contract price?

The captivate cost us agents more than what a customer can get it for outright (a lot more) Commissions probably don't allow them to sell it at $200 and make a profit.
