Help Problem after updating to kitkat

I updated to 4.4.2 and ever since then, when I type, sometimes, not always, it won't type my words. It shows the autocorrect tabs as if I am typing them, but the words aren't showing up, and it isn't delayed either. They aren't invisible because I can't send them.

well that sounds interesting... in a frustrating sort of way...

I have avoided upgrading thus far...

Some folks have mentioned doing a factory reset on their phones after upgrading has cleared up different weird problems.

Be advised that you could lose things if you do that, so back up where possible before doing so.

I will do a factory reset. I do this thru the "Backup and Reset" menu in the "Settings" right? Do I want "Backup my Data" or "Automatic Restore" checked when I do this? Probably not eh? Also, is the only way to backup my stuff thru Samsung Kies or can I put it on drive or something?
