Are you trying to change the boot at the beginning with bootimage?
If so thats why its actually called bootanimation.zip thats the name of the file.

no im typing in the full command and everything, i just get an
    error: device not found, message.
I tried to update the driver software, since yesturday i was using a different phone on with adb, thought maybe i that would work but my computer find no software to update it.

When you look in devices, are you getting a yellow ! that says adb? If so, go here, this seems to have fixed a lot of issues. Also, have you tried restarting your machine. Windows is weird like that.

hey I had the same problem lastnight. on the pc tap the windows key and r at the same time the run will come up the type cmd then tap ok . make sure your phone is in debug mode and connected the pc. then you type "cd C:\AndroidSDK\tools" hit enter ok here is where I was having my problem because my sdk was not in C: so it gave in error here make sure that your typing in where the file is on the PC look it up and then write it this is how mine was cd c:\sdk\android-sdk-windows\tools enter and the command worked then you type the command "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/" and it worked for me if you need more help on the main eris page under bootanimation

If you have the yellow ! on adb, the driver isnt installed. Go to this link and download this file and copy over current one. This worked for me and others and hopefully you too.

NOTE: I had to do a complete power down (not a restart) for this to work for me correctly so try this as well.
