I have been having problems with the 2.1 update :(

    * When i try to conect o the internet via moblie internet it takes ages to connect.
    * Facebook only sync half my contacts then it had to force quit and wont update again
    * It wont detect my Virgin 50 meg broadband :(

...On the firmware version, its says 2.1-update1 ......is that what it ment to say?

Orange's data network was down earlier this week so this may be related. When did you update your handset?

I don't use FB myself so can't help, but there seem to be a few "issues" with it on the Hero.

Did the wifi connection work prior to the update?

    Yup, all present and correct.

Make sure that the router is running in G-mode; the Hero's wireless chipset doesn't support N-mode so even mixed G/N-mode might cause it problems.

I have an issue where I plug my headphones in since the 2.1 upgrade and I can't change the volume, as soon as I plug them in it recognises the headphones have been plugged in and then automatically reduces the volume to nothing (vibrate). If I try to increase the volume it either won't let me, or shoots up to maximum, no inbetween... if I then try to reduce the volume it then reduces to nothing again.

I have tried restarting the phone and it still has the issue. It worked a-ok under 1.5 using the Toggleheadset app. Which I have also removed incase that was causing an issue..

    Any ideas?

Worked it out myself, settings, Sound & display, turn off Quiet ring on pickup. Bit daft that but it works
