Problems Tethering with XP

I'm trying to tether a Motorola Photon to my PC running Windows XP Pro to access the internet on my PC via my Photon. I am able to access my phone's memory and connect via Wi-Fi (over my home network) and USB no problem. I have found the configuration file necessary for XP tethering. At step 6 (see link) I do not see, on my computer, the New Hardware Wizard. When I select USB Tethering on my phone I do not receive any notice or confirmation of change on my PC. I have tried both Wi-Fi and USB, but neither works. I can see the Wi-Fi hotspot on my PC, but when I attempt to connect it continually reads "Waiting for the network..." Any ideas?

I just figured it out...or at least I think I did. I believe Sprint doesn't allow tethering from the Android application, but I downloaded Clockwordmod's Tether app and it did the trick. I have to disable my firewall and turn on debug mode for USB, but it works great. If there is another way let me know.

Other than root or paid apps, I think you're good to go.
