I got a Samsung Galaxy Spica a couple of weeks ago and I am having some problems making it mind...

    1. I figured out the key click problem. If your keyboard makes sounds and you don't want it to go to Settings>Language & keyboard>Samsung IME> Unclick key Sound. This setting overrides Settings>Language & keyboard>Android keyboard> Sound on keypress

    2. I use my calendar to bug me to go to my appointments. How can I change the reminder sound to something more substantial (i.e. longer and more annoying). I have read how people have made an mp3 track into their reminder and then they cannot turn it off. First how do you make a mp3 your reminder noise and secondly is there a fix to the not turning off issue?

    3. I have real trouble swiping. Almost every time I end up selecting an icon instead of changing pages. Is there a setting that I can edit that will allow me to swipe more effectively?

The basic calender app uses the default notification sound as a reminder. To change it.
    Menu
    Settings
    Sounds & Display
    Notification Ringtone.

Here you can choose Android System or Select Music.
Browse to the sound you wish to use.

You can Upload an mp3 sound to your SD card. It will be picked up when you try to change the sounds. Search on Google for mp3 sound effects. Obviously look for the free ones.

To Stop the sound install something like TasKiller and place it's widget on the home screen.

That way when the notification sound starts, you can press TasKiller Widget to kill it.

Cut your fingernails. The Spica uses a captive touchscreen, which means it needs skin contact to register a touch. You need a firm finger touch to register. So, cut your fingernails or keep as much of the flat tip of your finger in contact.

P.S. I was joshing you about your finger nails.

    Thanks BeerKan:

I have a reminder mp3 in mind, I created it last night with RingDroid. But I have no idea how to put it on the SD card so that droid can pick it up as a ringtone.

I was thinking if I could see the file system I could put it in the right place. But I cannot get the Samsung to connect to my computer. I plug my Samsung into the computer and it was not recognized with either Kies or PC Studio. I tried with and without the debugging on.

You are mounting the SD card when it connects to your PC?
    Connect.
    On Spica
    Menu
    Notifications
    USB Connected (press)
    and select
    Mount

Alternatively put the SD card in a USB adapter and plug it into your PC.

Hmmm... When I check notifications nothing appears in the list about usb. I do get the usb connected sound...

So I guess the only way to do it is to pull out the sd card. I created a ring tone yesterday and saved it (supposedly---can't check). I am hoping it is easily found.

Where do ringtones go on the microSD card.

    It says:

    SD Card
    Total Space
    1.90GB

    Available Space
    496MB

    Unmount SD card
unmount the SD card for safe removal

    Format SD Card
    Format (erase) the SD Card

    Internal phone storage
    Available space
    61.62MB

    Does that make sense?

Ok, something is up. I half expected you to show no details for the SD card, which would make sense, as you don't get the USB Connected when you go into Menu, Notifications.

In other words I suspectd you had NO SD inserted.

Just be to sure, try this:-

    Remove USB Cable.
    Power off your phone.
    Remove SD.
    Re-insert SD.
    Power on.
Watch carefully topleft screen for Preparing SD card notification
    When fully booted,
    Insert USB cable.
You should see USB Symbol top left.
    Menu
    Notificatons
USB Connected. (Press this, and choose Mount)

SD card should be visible to PC as external drive, no need to start Kies.

IF ANY of the above do NOT occur, you gotta fault.

Try another SD card. Try the SD card in your PC via USB adapter.
Try a factory reset. (backup your data)

    Any problems type me.

So everything works correctly until we are supposed to see a usb notification. Is there a way to turn off this notification?

Hmmm...I know it detects the usb plug in because it makes a whoosh sound and starts charging. But it does not show up in notifications. Things that make you go hmmm.

This SD card has worked in another phone and plugged into the computer. But I will swap it out and try again.

Format the card or not be able to see it on the computer...hmmmm tough choice.

Format doesn't seem to have solved the problem.

I am really really upset, because now I am going to have to replace my 2G microSD and get another one and I am pretty sure that the lowest size will be 16G. And that will be so sad...:D.

If your other phone can see the SD card, try to format it in that.
    Format it to FAT32.

Better check your phone with another SD card, before getting a new SD card, in case it's your phone that's at fault.

You could always try a factory reset.(long shot)

    Menu
    Settings
    Privacy
    Factory Reset

You lose all data on your phone, so backup contacts calendar etc.
You will also have to restore any apps from Market Place.
