    Hello Everyone,

I recently ordered a Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 model from Tmobile which should arrive in about a 2 days. This is my first android phone so I'm pretty excited. It comes preloaded with Gingerbread 2.3.6 ver and I was wondering about ICS 4.0.4. How does it compared with GB 2.3.6 version? I read horrible things about 4.0.3 and how it lags and drains battery fast. I was wondering if they have fixed those issues addressed in the 4.0.3 version. What are the pros/cons of upgrading to ICS 4.0.4? Any answer will help me tons.

I received 2 GS2's a couple days ago from T-Mobile for my wife and step-daughter (couldn't beat the deal) and they were already loaded with ICS 4.0.4 so I don't know why yours won't be. I use a GS2 that had GB and I upgraded through Kies to 4.0.4
You'll want to upgrade also IMO.
Its easy to do and the phone runs so much smoother.

This is a great forum to get all the info you'll need!

    Hi ssjnco85. :ciao:

    Welcome to the forums.

Its been so long since I ran Gingerbread I can hardly remember it. The last update for Gingerbread 2.3.6, UVLDE, was very good. ICS 4.03, I didn't really have problems with but a lot of people did. With 4.0.4 update my phone is running very smooth and I get probably 15% better battery life.

I have seen a very few complaints from people that since 4.0.4, sometimes when they make a call, the can't hear it ring and when someone answers they can't hear them speak. I haven't experienced this because I hardly make calls. :D

If you do decide to go to Ice Cream Sandwich and then don't like it, it is very easy to go back to Gingerbread.

Congrats on your first Android! You'll love the Galaxy S2.

I updated to 4.0.3, and back to gb because it had so many problems.
About a month later I undated straight to 4.0.4. All of the fc's and lags are gone now.
    Works like a champ.
Make the move. You wont regret it.

Android 4.0.4 is smooth and stable. It has none of the headaches that ICS 4.0.3 gave us - thank god. :)

All of the peeps answered your question nicely I just wanted to add that 4.0.4 is the really nice and stable version of Ice cream sandwich. It fixed most if not all of the problems with 4.0.3 which really should have been a beta version really. It is also the final version of ICS so it better be good. I personally think you will like your phone better with ics because it has more functionality that is until jelly bean comes along.

Also welcome to the forums and rock that Galaxy S2 with lots of pride.
