For those who want to keep their screens perfect, definitely buy a protector. All this gorilla glass full-proof talk is hogwash! I ordered a Steinheil Crystal Clear from eBay because I didn't believe it anyway, and my screen has been naked as I await shipment/delivery. Anyways, I looked down today and there's a small frickin' scratch on my screen!

I'm very careful with my phone - and haven't dropped it. I keep it in my pocket by itself for most of the day. I have no idea how this happened.

I've seen the debates over whether this screen is actually plastic because it bends and conversations over the scratch-proof / scratch-resistant stuff. All I gotta say on that stuff is, if you don't mind scratches and want to go naked on the screen, then that's cool. If you're trying to keep it scratch-less, get a protector. Bottom line. Darn shipping time screwed me! Couldn't even go a week.

I guess I'll have to go in and pretend I'm having software issues or something so I can get a replacement.

A grain of sand that made it into your pocket can easily do that. I still prefer no protector though, they bug the he'll out of me.

I ordered a BodyGuardz protector the same night I ordered my Droid X. It came yesterday and I put it on. It works for me.

I guess so, but if a grain can do this, that should put this debate to rest. And yeah, if folks don't care about getting scratches and prefer naked, that's cool. This note isn't for them. It's for those who want to go naked and think this screen is scratch-proof.

Nothing is scratch proof if you were foolish enough to believe that then shame on you

I didn't believe it. Was that directed at me? That's why I ordered a protector last week. I dismissed all of those "protector is not need" threads. It just took too long to arrive. :(

Not true. Diamonds are scratch proof. Unless of course you have another diamond and for some reason decide to rub them together.

I had this exact thing happen to me. When I had my Droid Incredible, I couldn't even make it 36 hours with it before getting a scratch on it. Seriously, I took it out at work to listen to music, set it down, and viola! Scratch! Luckily, I was able to get the phone replaced due to other issues with it and got sent a brand new one which IMMEDIATELY received a screen shield.

After that, I learned devices deserve insane amounts of care. I came from a BlackBerry Storm which received so much abuse because I hated that phone that I wasn't as careful as I should have been even though I knew I needed to keep care of that Incredible. Now with this gigantic screen, I'm taking no chances.

    SCREEN SHIELD YOUR PHONE!
