I thought I would share with everyone this new email app for Android from Seven that's still in BETA.

It gives you PUSH mail for all the common types of email such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Google and more!

It gives me PUSH mail for my hotmail and keeps all my folders in sync and you don't need hotmail Exchange ActiveSync for it to push!

If like me you require better than pop3 then why don't you give it a try and see what you think.

I have put a link to the website & another link direct to the registration page below.

You need to create an account to be able to download the app direct from them.

When you get to the download page and it asks for your device select OTHER then ANDROID

I'm sure there will be some people who will be very exicted by this app, particularly Hotmail & Live users

Thanks so much! This program is amazing. Would replace the stock email client if it wasn't for a feeling that I'm gonna have to pay for this one it's out of Beta.
For anyone having trouble finding their phone just pick all phones and select you model to be android. Confirmed working for Desire on 2.1

Have you guys upgraded to the new version?
I had issues with wifi before but that appears to be ironed out. Really liking seven mail right now :D.
    Try it!

Also, I started a thread last night on seven mail. Can a mod merge the too? I couldn't find anything when I searched for "seven".
    Thanks

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between push notifications vs. whatever Android does now? What are the advantages?

Push emails are pushed to your phone. Otherwise the phone has to poll the mail server, periodically, for new emails.

Looks quite good so far, got my Hotmail and BT-Yahoo accounts set, icon is a bit iffy but i changed that to the default email icon. Also 'Trackball Alert' app doesn't work with seven.
IM included, should be a seperate download for those (like me) who don't want IM

It says it requires sending an international text message for registration of an email address. I'm wary of this. Is it expensive?

If you look at the small print you can download directly to the PC without having the text sent to you for the link.

I like it... Except I sent a test email to three of my email addresses. The msn address received it almost instantaneously. AIM and Gmail, still haven't and it's been five mins.

Edit: Am I missing a setting, or is it supposed to be push on all accounts without trying?

LOL, sorry to break it to you guys, PUSH EMAIL is something that is enabled on the server side and has NOTHING to do with the client. Lets put it this way, if this application claims it can do push email on every public mail system, the built in android one can do it too.

I repeat, you CANNOT ENABLE SERVER SIDE PUSH EMAIL BY INSTALLING A CLIENT on your phone. This is something that Google already does with its Android Mail app, Hotmail just enabled about 2 weeks ago, and Yahoo has done for a while.

Needless to say, you can sync with push email to all of these mail systems natively in Android. This "seven" client is a scam.

I've been receiving emails all day, 2-3 minutes after they show up in Outlook (which I set to poll every minute). Seven appears to be working just fine. Does that mean Seven is constantly querying for new emails? How can I check/test this?

Either way, being able to send emails over wifi is enough for me to use Seven.

I understand what your saying as Exchange ActiveSync has only just been released for Hotmail which is still being tweaked to work on Android properly.
But if this app is not push mail then how do you explain the synchronisation of all folders including JUNK folder and whatever you do makes the changes in the server side aswell when you log onto PC and check your mail, POP3 can't do this.
Have you actually tried the app. Look up some reviews on Google about Seven on Android and they all say its push email.
Some actually say that its better on battery than the gmail app although admittedly its not as fast.

Has anyone figured out how to delete emails from the seven (phone) but keep them on the server?

    Thanks

That's not what Seven is offering. The email is push from their server to the device. I don't know the details regarding how email gets from the mail server to Seven but, obviously, a polled account would still be a polled account. It's not end-to-end push but can still benefit those that are polling their mail server from the device as the device no longer has to waste battery power on polling the server when there's no mail or via frequent polling.

It's analogous to BIS used by Blackberries.

You're right in that POP can't push or sync. However push and sync aren't the same thing. You can have one, the other or both.

Ok, I will try to post this without being an a-hole.

First, before you guys start claiming all this and that about this "seven" client, you really need to do a few things.

    1. Understand how email protocols work. POP, IMAP, OMA, etc
    2. Understand client side vs. server side, and how that relates to those email protocols
    3. Do a search online for "Yahoo Push Email", "Hotmail ActiveSync" and gMail ActiveSync.

Google licensed ActiveSync (EAS) from Microsoft years ago. Hotmail just introduced EAS a few weeks ago, and considering the partnerships that Yahoo and Microsoft are in now, its a very good chance that they will license activesync in the near future.

My point is this, you can set up all 3 of these email services natively on your phone, and they will all support push email, if you configure them correctly.

    - Okay, did the google searches for you. Yahoo is using IMAP for push email, while the other two are using OMA (or, ActiveSync)

Hotmail Server Settings - Hotmail Active-sync settings now available - xda-developers
GMail Server Settings - What Are the Gmail Exchange ActiveSync Settings? - About Email
Yahooo IMAP settings - What are the push mail settings for yahoo mail? what are the port nos for yahoo mails? - Yahoo! Answers

"Seven" is offering nothing special. This can all be done and configured directly from the Android OS NATIVELY

Not possible (and completely counter intuitive) with ActiveSync. For that, you need POP or IMAP to support a local copy of email

you said it correctly, you dont understand how it works, so please, stop making things up and confusing everyone else here.

Go read my other post, learn how email protocols work and you will see that "seven" is doing nothing that Android cannot do natively.

go read my other post, but to your one point, I will make this comment.

Why, if Google supports GMAIL push (ActiveSync) email natively on Android OS, why would you remove that functionality and put it inside an application that slows down the delivery process?

My work email uses IMAP not ActiveSync; i don't use Seven for hotmail, yahoo, or gmail. With the stock client, k9 and maildroid, I have to wait for my phone to poll for messages. I also can't send emails via wifi. With Seven, I get emails, two minutes after Outlook (polling every minute) and wifi doesn't cause problems either.

The reason I asked my prior question is that I sync both my phone and outlook to my office webmail account. If I delete email from my phone, I'd still like a record of it on my PC.

I'm also worried about security concerns with Seven. Can IMAP do push natively? If not does that mean Seven's servers are polling my emails and forwarding them to me?

    Regarding SEVEN,

Can i sync my Gmail account through IMAP and if so, how can i do that in seven? i found something called "work" but im stuck on something called "connector id"?

Is imap the fastest way to get my gmail? now i have to wait 8-24 hours to get my emails when i set it up with the gmail option.
