[Q] Baseband, kernel, build number

Thumbs up!

1) The baseband controls communications on the device. Controls the cellular radios for your phone.
2) The kernal is the inner "core" of the OS. It controls how the software works with the hardware. One of the reasons many custom ROMs may have broken features if you're using an older kernal.
3) Build number is just an arbitrary number assigned to the software by the developer.
