Qualcomm releases an official statement about its USB Type-C + Quick Charge 3.0 specification

A Google engineer recently said he would never recommend the LG G5 or the HTC 10 because they used Quick Charge technology and that means they are not USB Type-C compliant.

Android Central reached out to Qualcomm for a statement and they were told Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology is "connector-independent." This means that it doesn't matter if you're using USB Type-A, micro USB or USB Type-C.

The company also says that after all of their testing, they have never come across any device malfunctions with or without USB Type-C connectors.

Device malfunctions was never the real issue. Leung just said he cannot recommend something that's not spec complaint, even if it's "safe" because it's not being done the right way.

The problem is that it's impossible -- at least right now -- to reach Quick Charge 3.0 level charging speeds while supporting data transfer until 3.1 is available. Qualcomm and OEMs simply came up with a workaround which is safe, just non-compliant.

I don't see the issue here?
