I'm sure it's been asked, but how do you like your white EVO's? Any quality control issues?

Also, a general EVO question- how bad does screen brightness affect your batteries?

    Thanks!

There is a white EVO? I have a white case for my phone, but I haven't heard of any white phones.

EDIT: Wow. Just did a google. Man, I wish I had a white one.

No idea about the White evo. I have two evo's in my house. My GF got hers on launch day and I got mine about 2 weeks later. Both work great and are flawless. The phone is simply AWESOME.

In regards to the battery... I have heard and wouldnt doubt that lowering the brighness will increase the batt life by quite a bit. That being said, I take my EVO off the charger at about 6:00 and go for a 2hr hike every morning and while doing so track and record my position with a GPS app and I stream Pandora or listent to mp3's. I have my screen brightness set at 80%ish. I am able to make it through a day with moderate useage with ease.

Hey there guys, I just registered right now because i saw this post and i thought i could throw some info at you guys since i was lucky enough to get a White Evo this past sunday. (first come first serve) from BB

battery is phenomenal compared to my pre. so im happy, the other day i went from taking it off the charger at about 9:30 and leaving it on all night and had to charge it the next day when i got home at about 5'o clock. i listened to pandora radio most of the morning from 7:30 -12. pretty much straight. went to the bano and did some web surfing and app market research. I downloaded that free golf game. checked 2 voicemails,(real short 10sec/each i think) didnt do to much texting. watched a video I loaded up on it. GPS off, WIFI off, No 4g in L.A. where i am yet :(.

pretty much a break down of how it went yesterday. One thing i did notice though is that when i was at Home(Sunday night) with the WIFI connected and using that, the battery drained rather quickly as opposed to 3g. i'm talking like 3 of the little bars in a bout 30-40 mins. but thats 30-40 min straight surfing the web and app market...

So far no blemishes, light leakage, screen seperation, dust, i like the glossy white back coz its easier to put in and out of my dress pants pocket than with a case or something with grip. if its not in the pocket its in my hand or using the kickstand.

that about wraps it up, im goin to grub at in n out . peace

I picked up a White EVO last Saturday, and I'm really impressed. I had initially planned on getting the Black EVO, but the White EVO looks much better in person than it does in the online pictures (others agree with me on this.) It has a sort of glossy white finish but not glossy enough to attract/show fingerprints. I have mine in a black rubbery case anyway though, so it doesn't really matter.

After seeing the Black and White side-by-side in the store, I must say I prefer the look one the White one.

As for build quality, I have a HW003 with the Novatek screen and have had zero issues with it. No light leakage, no screen separation, no squeaky hardware, etc.

Coming from a Blackberry Curve 8330, the lower battery life is definitely noticeable, but I also use the EVO a lot more than I ever used the BB. However, it lasted for about 6-7 hours on Monday under heavy use. By heavy use I mean 4hrs of GPS navigation, lots of web browsing over 3G, moderate wifi use, live wallpaper, auto-brightness (i spent most of the day outside or in a mall, so it was probably at least 80% brightness), constant texting, a few calls, and playing with the many apps I had installed the night before.

I imagine under normal use, I could easily get 8hrs+ to last me through the work day, especially once I install a task manager and install a battery saving ROM after I root it.

Thanks all, you've helped me make my decision. I'm all out of love for AT&T even though the Captivate looks to be an excellent phone and I wanted one, just wasn't sure I wanted to stay with that carrier. I love the Droid X but to get close to what my AT&T plan was as far as cost included jumping through too many hoops. I'm a freelance designer and I watch my expenditures like a hawk. I would have had to kill the txt plan with Verizon, sign up with Google Voice, give everyone my new phone number, etc. I just printed new business cards 3 months ago on plastic and I don't want to fuss with handing out a new number. And I have heard mixed opinions on Google Voice anyways. Verizon's service in my house is sub-par, though out on the street it's fine. Go figure, but I don't feel like making calls from my window. I've never had such a hard time making a decision on a new phone. There are just a lot more high quality and fast smartphones on the market simultaneously than I have seen in a long time. So my decision had to come down to carrier. Sprint's service in-house and out is excellent and I have 4G here. Plus it's cheaper and no hoops to jump through.

Hey, also wanted to add real quick, I'm very vigilant about using the battery till it warned me that it was low and then would charge it till full. I do believe that it improves your battery's life, especially after i noticed how it affected my pre.

I've had my white Evo for a week. I returned the first one because the battery cover was really loose. The phone I currently have also has a loose battery cover. We opened several boxes of white Evos at Best Buy (Chelsea, NYC) and all of them had this problem. I know a case will fix this issue, but I don't want a case on my phone. Just going to live with it for now.

I have a couple of questions about getting the white evo.

First off my wife has been a blackberry user for years, but ever since I got my Evo she has been looking at it and telling me how nice it is. I showed her a picture of the white evo and she said she was convinced that she wants an evo. (WOOHOO!!!)

The only problem is that I have to buy it off of contract. I noticed that at Best Buy the phone is $599, however I know Sprint is selling Evos for $449. So here are my 2 questions:

    1) Does anyone know if Best Buy will price match Sprint's price? I understand this may be a problem since Sprint isn't yet selliing white Evos so there is really no price set yet.

    2) Does anyone know how long the exclusivity is with Best Buy and when Sprint will get the White Evos?

I asked my local BB in San Diego and they said they do price match but it has to be the exact same item, so since Sprint is not carrying the white evo they are not going to price match it. Customer service may vary from store to store so its worth asking.

Sprint is supposed to carry the white evo August 18th I believe. I know for sure it is mid august.

Sprint is supposed to get the White Evo in Aug or Sept iirc
I'm guessing they'd still require the mail in rebate though.

Anyway I love my white evo. I am exchanging it soon however due to a tiny bit of screen separation, as many others have experienced.
Also my biggest wish as far as build quality is that the battery door was a little stronger and set in place better so it doesn't have the ability to make quiet clicking sounds if I handle the back of the phone a certain way.

Other than that I love it and everything is perfect!

As for screen brightness, I keep mine about halfway up, and have played with different brightness settings without seeing any noticeable changes in battery life.

I don't think you will get the mail in rebate if you buy the phone off contract.
