In theory if at some time in the future Motorola went out of business and/or shut down all the motoblur servers and services, would all the Cliq/Dext phones in the world suddenly become completely useless and non-functional? I'm not talking about inability to back up data to a motoblur account or use the Happenings widget, I mean would the devices just stop WORKING altogether because they couldn't connect to the motoblur service. Or would they continue to function as normal smartphones just without the extended features of motoblur?

If for example someone had a brand new/factory-reset-state Dext and tried to turn it on and start using it for the first time, but obviously couldn't create a new Motoblur account because the service was no longer operational, would the phone essentially just be a permanently out-of-commission brick even though normal GSM voice/data services were still available through local telcoms etc? Or would it still work?
