Questions about pricing.General

I was curious if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I want to upgrade to the Razor M but I am not eligible until 9/21. I called Verizon and they told me that they could not push up my upgrade date to purchase this phone.

They also told me that currently the only place to order the phone was from Verizon through Pre order. They said that I could not order it over the phone or at a store yet.

My question is if anyone has anyone dealt with a situation like this before? I am concerned that after the preorder date that the 99.99 price will go up. Since I am not eligible until the 21st that means I would miss out on the pricing.

I am hoping that the price stays like this even after the preorder date. ANy help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

What's stopping someone from just starting a new contract pay $99 and then cancelling the contract and paying the $350 early termination. So you're at $450 + tax instead of $549 full retail.

Am I missing something are there any other restrictions through VZ?

byy the time you pay taxes and at least one month service you're getting at or over retail price. But no theres nothing stopping you from doing it

Can you break this down? Tax here would be 8.5 or 9%, you can use 10% for the example, and the additional FCC type fees.

Or even adding a line, and then cancelling, could be much cheaper than full price! Since you can't get unlimited anymore on a subsidized phone (norm, but some people have) this could be the way to go on a second line.:D:D

i know, it's close though. you have to return within 14 days, so you don't technically need to pay a full months service. or you could return that day or the next and pay for one day's worth of service. i think you lose on an activation fee, so thats $35 as well.

i'm on unlimited data so retail or ebay is the only way to go for me.

I believe the phone is $99 after a mail in rebate. You would not get the rebate if you canceled your contract. So if we figure the rebate is $100 or even $50 then you have to add that in too.

So you would be looking at:

    $99 + $350 + $35 + $100 = $584 + tax

    $99 + $350 + $35 + $50 = $534 + tax

Either way, you are right back around full retail and that is only if they don't decide to hit you with the $40 monthly fee.

are you in a state where they tax on full retail? If so thats gonna be a good chunk. I don't think you'll be saving enough to be worth the hassle but by all means give it a try and let us know how it turns out :smokingsomb:

    It's $99 online, no rebate. So $350 +99 = $449

Even if tax is on full retail, your other fees will be the same.

$449 < $550 (or $550 might turn out to be $650 by using a "formula" like above with full retail + fees).

amazon has it listed for 49-99 depending. but it's "Backordered" for a bit. Phone prices never go up though, usually down.

The screen seems under-par for me though. Small text just isn't readable at all.

Generally true, but I'm still kicking myself a bit because I was about to pull the trigger on two One S's with T-mobile on an online special for $0 with a two-year contract for my wife and I and the deal literally expired as I was going through the ordering process at midnight. The price went back to $150 and I haven't seen it back to $0 since.

But usually, they seem to only go down, never up.

I have had the phone for about 9 hours now and i feel like the reviews and critics have severely underrated the screen on this phone. I would put the display up against 99% of the android community.

I went to youtube and was playing 1080p videos and the quality was great IMO.

For some reason, I think pentile screens affect people vastly different. Some people can't stand them. Other people don't really notice a huge difference between that and RGB Stripe. If it doesn't bother you, congrats, you just got a great deal on a phone that for you will be just as good as the top tier HD screens.
