Can't seem to find these answers in the Vibrant threads.

    1) Once I'm rooted and have applied the lag fix, can I unstall the 1-click lag fix and the Galaxyrooter applications? This is for my wife's phone, and she sometimes lets a 6 year old play with it to use the games. Don't want him to accidentily do anything bad.

    2) Once Frodo 2.2 is out, what happens? If I understand correctly, the update will still happen, it will just unroot the device. If I were to also apply the GPS fix on 2.1, will it overwrite that too? Are there any negative aspects to having these fixes in place when the 2.2 update happens? What, if anything, will happen to those fixes and the root status?

u wont recieve the froyo update ota if u are rooted and yes u can delete the apps after u apply the lag fix and root. and if i understand correctly if u flash back to stock to get the update then u will lose the gps and lag fix and root but im sure that samsung fixed the gps and lag fix with the froyo update

Hmm, in other threads I've read that the OTA update will still happen as long as you haven't installed a new ROM into the device. I only installed the root functionality, not a new ROM, so this leads me to believe that the OTA update will still happen (it would only un-root my devices and undo the lag fix and GPS fix).

Can anybody else expand on this?

o ok thought for sum reason u had a custom rom, yeah u will recieve it but will lose root which rilly isnt a big deal because it litterally takes 20 seconds to boot to recovery and flash the update.zip for root

I was wondering the same thing, I rooted and did the lag fix and nothing else. Except deleted some of the bloatware. Glad the OTA will work and then Ill just root again. Thanks for the info.

Fantastic, thanks for the clarification! I'm coming from an extenstive BlackBerry knowledge set, so Android is new to me...I have no idea what I'm missing with a custom ROM, so I haven't done it yet :D

I may mess around with one after Froyo is pushed out, if the benefits are worth it. I'm a tinkerer and tech fanatic, and I always want the most out of my devices. My BlackBerry Bold 9700 is like a super steroid-pumped business machine, which is absolutely nothing compared to what my wife's Vibrant is. I immediately switched to the "dark side" :p

Let me ask you, how did you remove the bloatware after rooting? I rooted my vibrant and tried to remove apk's from the system/app folder with astro filemanager but it was denied. I also tried to copy a couple of notifications from my sd card and past them into media/audio folder with astro and again nothing. Did you use adb or another program?

Borrowing your thread to ask a question. My Vibrant is rooted, lag-fix. I know i'm still able to get OTA updates but how do I know when I get the updates? Will I get a notification on my phone? Is it there any possibility that the official GPS fix will be included in the Froyo update for Vibrant?

The update will show as a notification on your screen, asking if you want to download the available update. As for GPS fix, it's my impression that the Froyo update will "fix" it for us Galaxy S users in the USA.

It's projected for this month, at the end most likely.
